Hi...

I did check the ECT sensor from a Zafira A ( car is cutting off ) and the readings are very low when i put it into boiling water. I have another ECT sensor over here wich fits...but...the wires are not the same. I belive the sensor is for the Peugeot 205..but not sure.

I just want to test if the car does not shut off anymore with the Peugeot ECT sensor installed. The Vauxhall Zafira A ( Z18XE motor)connector for the ECT sensor has a blue wire and a brown one. The other one a green wire with yellow rings every inch and the letters M1 on it and a light blue wire.

Can someone tell me how to connect the sensor?

You put the sensor in boiling water whilst it was still connected to the car ?

And no, a sensor from another car will not fit and is not a sensible test at all.

And whilst it is possible, it is unlikely the ECT is the cause of the engine stopping.

If the sensor appears not to work correctly, check all wiring is good and if so, replace the sensor.

Even unplugging the sensor and viewing the temperature reading on a diagnostic scanner should tell you if the wiring is ok.

Does your sensor need to grounded / earthed to work properly?
