That's "Normal" mode, what Moog and others are talking about is "Easy" mode!

I did quite a few missions last week on "Hard" mode, which is one to two levels above your level, but I did have Pilchard8 on my team and he is essentially Neo (from the Matrix) at FPS.

There's also "Impossible" mode, which is 3 or more levels above your level.

I found missions at your own level are hard, but possible, missions one level above are extremely tough and missions two levels above are all but impossible, without serious help from your team.

I have done a lot of the Bounty tasks on super easy mode though - romping through a level 8 patrol at level 20, or getting 20x multikills with a fusion gun on an easy level, is a quick way to level up.

I'd say it definitely improves when you reach Venus (despite my previous comment elsewhere). Yes some of the enemies are the same but they don't seem as much of a cakewalk as previous.

That is kind of how I aimed the post. If games like WoW or Diablo and the hunt for better loot excite you then this is ideal. If you like the immediate hit of something like CoD then it's not for you. The comparison to Halo doesn't really run any deeper than the way you interact with the environment and enemies, it really is more of an MMO style grind.

I love a bit of looting don't get me wrong. But Diablo was just a button basher imo - didn't like. Games like Fallout and to a lesser extent Oblivion are great though, luv 'em. Much prefer real world settings to fantasy and sci-fi.

Really not sure how I'd get on with Destiny but reading the reviews and comments like yours above is enough to keep me on the side lines for now.

All that said, if you can manage to get 6 people together, the raid stuff that has opened up today looks seriously deep, really long encounters involving all sorts of different tactics and part of the idea is to work it out for yourselves. Stuff I'm watching now has half the team defending an area in the current time, with the other half going back in time to defeat enemies there in the same area.

Can someone please add me to the original post and feel free to add me up as a friend too. Only at level 10 so far as I just got back from holiday a few days ago so furiously working my way through the levels now.

Oh and what's all this too hard nonsense? I'm glad someone had a b*lls to release a game with a decent challenge. Doing all the missions on hard mode solo and yes it does seem impossible sometimes when you are surrounded by enemies but if you keep your head and use ALL your weapons\powers to your advantage they are imminently doable.

Loving the strike co-op missions though so looking forward to doing more of those with some PH'ers. Crucible is OK but nothing really ground breaking, however the tight shooting mechanics are keeping me playing it for the moment. Hopefully they'll release some DLC to add a bit more variety. One thing which is strange is that you can't pick up any of the alien plasma weapons which you could do in Halo, seems like a bit of a step back in that regard as it means you are stuck with the standard gun selection which isn't very varied.

It's that or we were all a bit rubbish (quite possible, this is the first proper FPS I've played on a console)

The strikes are properly hard. I did the earth strike last night as a level 14 with two other matchmade level 14s. It was tough going but, we got there! I've done the moon strike with a level 22 (I was level 12 at the time) which seemed ok although, I died quite a bit!! Going to try it again tonight if anyone fancies it - I'll be on from about 6:30pm (currently level 16) :-)

Agree the Moon strike mission was a proper challenge especially playing it with 3 level 12's!!

The problem is not so much all the enemies but that fact that the ammo drops seem to be VERY stingy and the boss takes an inordinate amount of hits to kill. Still managed to finish it but it took quite a few deaths and a long time.

Would be keen to give it another go when I am levelled up a bit more.

So far the strikes seem to be the most interesting, what are these raids people are doing and how\when can I access them?

Just given this a go and got precisely zero engram drops of any colour - how long do you have to farm for would you say? I probably only gave it 10 - 15 mins but would have expected something in that time (gear if not engrams)

I've now also reached level 20, so really look to get some legendary gear soon
