I did it for ~40 deaths (maybe an hour) and didn't get much of value.. All that I kept was a pair of blue boots.. Feel like there is more chance getting something decent playing crucible for the same amount of time.

Am I missing a trick?

When I do a strike I get matched up with other players. When I do story mission or patrol I never meet other players or see any option to join a fireteam. I have fireteam set to public.

When you're in orbit, it tells you how many of your friends are online and you can either invite them to join you or, if they have their fireteam open, you can join them instead. Otherwise, you will play the majority of missions solo (although, I was matched up with a random fireteam for a very tough Venus mission this morning).

Have I sent you a friend request yet? I have sent quite a few to names on the list that haven't been accepted yet - I'm more than happy to join you for some missions

Just played my first game of "Free for all" multi-player and got absolutely battered. Level advantage is disabled but what isn't disabled is a bunch of level 20+ characters all with legendary gear one shot killing you with some massively powerful shotgun Still, managed a few kills before the end

Might be a bit more "fun" if you were all on a level playing field - I'll go back in once I've geared up a bit more

Having not gained any light at all today, I joined Speckle doing story missions. Promptly got 2 blue weapons and a blue helmet that gave half a bar of light iincrease. Bonus!

Guys, some quick tips on weapon types vs enemy types (useful if you're having problems against a certain boss):

In summary, there are 4 weapon types:

Kinetic (no symbol)
Fire (red, flame symbol)
Arc (blue, jagged star symbol)
Void (purple, whirl symbol)

These symbols are shown on the weapon's info page and against the weapon on your HUD display.

The 3 non-kinetic ("elemental") weapon types don't do anything different to kinetic weapons against enemies without shields.

However, if an enemy has a shield, their shield has a colour: either red, blue or purple, most noticeable when you're shooting at it.

The elemental weapons do bonus damage to the shield only of an enemy whose shield colour matches the elemental weapon colour.

Finally, there is no headshot/weakspot damage multiplier when an enemy has a shield in place.

Had a few excellent skirmishes with some PHers recently and starting to slowly get some light. Got disconnected half way through the Mars strike mission this morning which was very annoying (no doubt for the other players too!) It really is more fun playing co-op!

I dabbled in the PvP again but, honestly I just suck! I seem to do fine in the story missions/strikes but, in PvP, I am useless!! I think I'll just stick to the other stuff.

Hi Rob, no money and no interest so i didn't bother. Now i have some interest but no money so we'll see how it goes.
PS4 with destiny for £320 is getting there.

Is cod still as unreliable lag wise as it used to be?

And how much for a controller? The ps3 ones were a rip off went through 4 or 5 of those.

What a game. Level 6 after a couple of hours, haven't done any co-op yet, all on my lonesome so far (only have one friend at the moment!). Is there a way to be matched up to randoms for normal missions or is it just friends, with some matchmaking for strike missions?

Really loving the game so far.
