I finally get my first purple engram (after getting to level 26 and seeing hundreds of blues) and the sodding thing decodes into ascendant shards. Useful but some legendary armour to get me to level 27 would have been far more useful.

Why don't you just buy the new legendary armour from the Vanguard/Crucible vendors? It will get you to level 31 once leveled up?

Work on getting the vanguard stuff, some may drop but it's where I'd be aiming. Buying it all will get you to 31.

I didn't get the game when it came out but having been playing with mates at weekends to make the grind a bit more fun. I finally decided that I was going to get it myself and you can level up very quickly until you start needing legendary gear ( i got through it in a week) but now I have hit the limit on Vangard marks so have to wait until it resets on Tuesday.

I haven't played Crucible yet so that might speed it up a bit.

I just want to get high enough to try the Raid(s) as I have only done part of the Vault of Glass.

There's your answer. Second revenue stream, although some people despise PvP. Iron Banner next week (I think).

Level 26 is plenty for the VoG Raid.

Did you get the exotic piece of armour for your class from Xur this weekend?

That starts at level 30 and goes up to level 36, so that plus 2 pieces of maxed out vendor armour and one piece VoG armour = level 31.

So, you only need 150 marks (can be 75 vanguard/75 crucible) in total to get armour to take you to level 31, assuming you have one piece of VoG raid armour.

Quite a productive day for me. Used the LFG site for the first time and completed the Thorn strike with a couple of decent Aussie guys, then Speckle and I smashed our way through the daily and a good half a dozen bounties.

I'm pretty busy this week, but could do 3-4 hours throughout the day tomorrow if anyone fancied a trip into the new raid or an ascendant run into VoG.

Holy crap on a stick

We got to crota yesterday amazingly , and what a beast he is.

4 level 30s and 2 31s couldnt kill him.We will give it another go later but i am 100% convinced you need a team of 31s to do the damage in the timescale allowed.

What was the strategy for getting to the shard room? Was Crota immediately afterwards?

Jumped into the raid briefly to get the first chest yesterday with Shane (the one hidden behind the door in the left).

Took about 6 returns to orbit before the chest finally appeared for us.

Shane got a couple of shards.

I got....
2 shards
2 radiant energy
2 heavy weapon ammo
"Shroud of the flies" - raid hunter cloak
"No land Beyond" - exotic primary sniper rifle.

So not too bad

No land beyond is pretty cool looking, kind of like a steam punk wooden stock elephant gun. Massively powerful but rubbish WW2 style iron sights that are not upgradable as far as I can see.

I got the No Land Beyond from the nightfall, it does look really cool and being bolt action is different but its not a great weapon to use.

Going to try to get my 3rd character to level 20 from level 9 today, not sure I will manage it though

31 needs to be the sword bearer but other than that its possible with the rest being 30.

We got to it Crota last night too, going to finish him off tonight.

Managed the Weekly without a wipe (died a couple of times) and that was as a level 28.

Just wait until you get your next one and it decides to be for the wrong class.
