Bloody hell Youngsy, I'm getting absolutely wrecked in ToO! Any tips for those of us who are less... gifted... in PvP?

Get a couple of excellent team mates?! confusedlaugh

Seriously though, you'll all need to be reasonably handy in the Crucible, then just work together as a team - time your supers to help others, decide at the start of each round whether you're going to rush or defend and stick together as a three man unit.

I had to keep reining my teammates in from trying to rush the other team and wipe them out - once you've got the lead, you can just sit in cover and guard their ghosts, preventing the revives and waiting for the 90 second timer to run out. More often than not the remaining players will try to get to the ghost to recover and you can just take them out as they come in.

Don't forget you can switch primary/heavy weapons in a round - I used Hawkmoon for most of the match, Icebreaker when my Efrideet's Spear (sniper) ran out of ammo and then Gjallarhorn when the heavy ammo dropped. Don't forget that Gjally is very effective even blind fired into the general area where the enemy are - its Wolfpack rounds alone can kill.

Also, make sure you pick up the perks if you have the coins - we actually lost a match, but this was wiped by our perk, our first win counted as two and we started with one win, so we only actually went 7-1 for a stated 9-0 result.

So, which guns are people going to ascend first?

I can now ascend 3, but I'm not sure which ones will be best?

Definitely Fatebringer - recked in level 32 events even at attack power 300, should be a beast in PvE at 365. Lots of use for arc damage in HoW.

Possibly Vision of Confluence - solar scout from VoG, recked in the original game and held its own at level 300 in level 32 events. Great for taking out Cabal and witches.

Then what?

Maybe an HMG? Hunger of Crota? An Iron Banner Weapon?

Definitely Fatebringer, that's a given.

I can't speak for Vision of Confluence as I don't yet have that, I suspect I'll then be opting for something like Praedyth's Revenge and Hunger of Crota. That would give you all elements as well as a weapon for any given situation.

Icebreaker ascended and it's awesome (American accent). And that's about it as I can't see me picking up Etheric Light any time soon.

How did you lot get to 34 so quickly? I thought you needed Etheric Light to upgrade gear and that was only available from PoE lvl 34+ and only once per week per char? How can you mash through PoE lvl 34 as a lvl 32 quite so easily?

Disappointed that Gjally now becomes so crucial to the new end game battles, not just because I don't have one but the game should not be structured that way IMO

I was reviewing some footage of my trainwreck of an evening in Trials of Osiris, and the disadvantage between level 32 and 34 seems more pronounced that I recall it being in the Iron Banner. Headshots with a 365 fully-levelled Thorn were only doing 56 damage in some instances!

I'm at work tomorrow until around 1600, but will be doing Nightfall and 32 / 34 PoE if anyones up for it? I need that Etheric Light!

Getting to 34 isn't particularly quick, I've just pretty much played Destiny non-stop for the past few days!

Have played PoE at all levels to 34 on all 3 characters and level 35 on 2 characters.

I also got 3 Etheric light for the Flawless Trials run. biggrin

Don't worry too much about Gjally, people will find other ways and weapons.

Look up my brother - Kryptonkid09, he may well be up for a level 32 PoE tomorrow evening.

Re the damage differences, I'm pretty sure I one-shotted a level 32 with a non-final round Efrideet Spear body shot tonight, but he may have had a tiny amount of damage already. Having said that, we managed a flawless run with a level 33 in the team, so it can't be too bad.

I'll run PoE with you.

I'm also working until 4pm today and need to run a lvl 32 PoE with 2 characters. I completed lvl 34 as a 32 (there were many, many deaths!) but, still need the armour core from lvl 32 to hit lvl 33

Ditto, although I still need to do lvl 28 PoE and only have the one char at the moment. Would like to run the new strike in regular mode too in order to complete the mission & to see it for when it comes around as a NF next time.

I know you can do both of these things with randoms but I'd prefer not to if some of the regular PH crew are on and up for it smile

Well done Youngs on the flawless run and to Specs and the sex pest. Completing level 34 PoE as a pair of 32s is particularly impressive thumbup

We also did something particularly epic yesterday whistle

Ahem:-

Flawless as well baby, and on the first and only attempt! biggrin As you say Youngs, it comes down to teamwork, a good balance within the team and good comms. Knowing when to push and when to play defensive is key. smile

I have to say, the rewards were EPIC, and the trip to the new social space a complete surprise. We weren't aware of it at all (and googling for details as we were en route showed articles about it minutes old only). I got enough etheric light from the chest and the random rewards from the ToO chap to get 2 characters from level 33 and 32.5 to 34 and by able to ascend a further weapon- 5 drops in total. It is worth attempting!

Anyway, my rewards:-

Most importantly, the new emblem. I may be wrong but it is the only exotic emblem in the game:-

The ToO hunter cloak. Note: as a result of this and the emblem, I am now tea-bagged a lot in normal crucible when killed hehe :-

The weapons. My new beasty... Word of Crota can now be retired given the elemental damage and automatic 365 damage. Great perks as well:-

Scout rifle:-

I also received the ToO autorifle but the specs are the same as the one being sold. Not fired that yet. Here is us sitting in the chest of loot though:-

hehe

Video of the new social space and the rewards:-

Apologies for the jumping around etc. We were a bit excited, weren't sure what was going on and were looking for ghosts. There has to be one! We did note that there are a few areas that were closed off so no doubt this will be used for other stuff in the future. Mercury is still open for me to visit (it appears between the DLC trailers) so I'll take a look in a bit.

Happy to help anybody's attempt over the weekend. Just give me a shout if you see me online. Just a couple of things to consider though:-

- I did this as a level 33 but with 2 level 34s. The added damage wasn't massive but noticeable. Certainly more than IB. Example- a single headshot from thorn would kill me but not the others.

- Youngs has mentioned it, but if you're lucky enough to have it, use Hawkmoon. It is just wonderful. I went 4-0 in a round as three head shots stacked as kills and then I golden gunned the self-res. hehe

- I can't help but think that as time goes on, the "elite" players will play this only. It will be worth attempting it this and next weekend whilst PvE players give the new content a try.

biggrin

Still yet to try level 34 PoE. hehe

I must admit I was extremely sceptical about HoW before it dropped, I really did expect it to be a big let down, but having played it pretty much non-stop from Tuesday, I think it's fair to say that I'm overwhelmingly impressed with the DLC! smile

It really does add a lot to the current game, it almost feels like a new game has been added onto the old one with PoE and Trials. The new social space, weapons and armour are a breath of fresh air and the Mercury Lighthouse Easter Egg is just the icing on the cake.

The way they've integrated old and new materials works well too - players with a huge amount of time logged in the game get rewarded for their efforts by being able to exchange useless materials for useful ones, but it's still not easy to get the new gear.

Well done Bungie!

PS: Just dropped Celestial Nighthawk from my 15th helmet engram! biggrin

Well done Trialers, and Speck and Shane for doing 34 as 32s.

I've got VoG CPs for people who want FB/Exotic chest. Happy to spend a bit of time smashing Templar if a few people want it and share the CP around.

To belittle our achievement slightly, I think I was the only 32 on our run through lvl 34 PoE (S99ane, correct me if I'm wrong...)

I now have a lvl 34, an almost lvl 33 as soon as I get the armour core and a standard lvl 32.5 and fully expect to have another lvl 34 before the weekend is out....or maybe a 365 Fatebringer if I'm feeling reckless! shootsmile

Well done Singh - you were definitely excited when you dropped into chat, made me chuckle.

Looks like you got some sweet loot too - loving that cloak!! (not enough to play any PvP though, obviously!)

Catch you all later - got a few PoEs to do and happy to run though the Strike with you Moog.

I need some help deciding if I should reforge a weapon. I picked up a legendary arc rocket launcher and reforged it until I got tracking. I quite fancy having the tripod perk along with it which would make it an absolute beast for any arc burn content!

But, is it worth it? I have a 36/1 chance of getting both tripod and tracking together so it could potentially get very expensive (and may never happen even after 36 rolls)

Should I bother???

This, dear boy, sounds like the ideal opportunity for a spreadsheetbiggrin

If you can be bothered to research all the available perks, identify your dream roll, then decide what would be an acceptable second place. If you're not desperate for an arc launcher, then roll it again. If you don't get what you want it doesn't really matter. If your load out is crying out for one, accept it. Have you got a reload perk? You might have less in the tube without Tripod, but a reload perk would slightly compensate for this. Personally I'd keep it.

Thanks guys biggrin

Yep, I was very excitable. The thing is, when we were 8-0 up, I proposed just using sidearms for a laugh. That would have been a kick in the nuts as we had no clue what was to happen. hehe

Specs. I was in your position and re-rolled for that exact set of perks... And got it. Only cost me about 15 motes. smile

Don't forget that you can trade in old shards for motes with the speaker. Make use of them!

You both make good (and polar opposite) arguments!

Thing is, I need an Arc launcher and it has to have tracking so what I've got is good. But, it only holds 1 rocket in the pipe and has no reload perks so that could be an issue. It'll only ever come out on arc burn Nightfalls/PoE rounds so perhaps that doesn't matter?

I think I'll level it up to try it out and reforge if the reload speed proves too slow thumbup
