Several times lately I've had to rumble along there in a stream of stop-start cars all concertina-ing up behind a member of the mumsnet 39.999 brigade, proudly creating mayhem.

FFS surely they can upgrade to 50 for these last few weeks to save us from these imbeciles??? I'm sure the great Naarfolk Slowster contingent goes out there just for a drive to see how much delay they can cause.

And.... relax smile

For months people have been happily rolling along at a little more than 40 mph and not dying however in the last 2 weeks the progress has rapidly dropped to 39.9999 mph

What cause the change I hear you ask??

A safety Camera Van parked on the Brandon to Bury St Edmunds bridge (close to centre parks) right on top of the A11.

Exactly the same times and frequency as they used to sit in the Layby's thro Eleveden so you've been warned and now you know why.

I'll be glad when it opens too. It's certainly by far the worst part of the Norwich - London journey now. I'm sure they drag it out for as long as possible so we all feel really grateful when the new road finally opens!

Ah, that probably explains why I was caught up in an accident there a few weeks back!

Cheers for the heads up. Was it the one that's usually parked up on the Snetterton bypass? Bloody nuisance they are.

Probably will be-once you've memorised the camera positions. Why are the Suffolk SC operators such a slimmy bunch of morons?
Its one of those jobs that no one admits having-bit like the "lower casts"of India.

If those morons at the Norfolk scamming agency are still claiming to only collect the money from the roads with a proven track record of crashes, how do they justify scamming on a brand new road? Obviously their entire operation is a scam so breaks in the tissue of justifications are easy to find, just this one is glaring.

I was asking Edwards (former mouthpiece of the racket) ages ago when they were operating on the brand new dualled Snetterton bit how this could be, and furthermore if they're claiming the road was dangerous (by definition else they wouldn't be there) he never came back with anything sensible. My point was that this road was designed with all that is known about road safety in mind, and if on opening it's declared dangerous WTF is being done about it?

Same goes for this new bit.

December was the timeline I thought, went along it yesterday going north and they had one lane open on each side - traffic was doing 50 all the way along.

Coming back there seemed to be a massive problem so I went out through Ingham and on to the A14 at Bury, perhaps there was a crash on the a11?

I know "someone" who may have hooned it down there late at night - it was a nice drive (apparently) lol

You know that about 300 feet of the new dual carriageway section is in Norfolk - rest is in Suffolk?

Suffolk have already be putting a camera van on the Eleveden/Centre Parcs bridge outside of commuting hours (no point inside commuting hours because it crawls along at 40)

You be hard pushed to find room to park a camera van on it going in Cambridge direction because of the slip road to the Elveden Village (although heading in the Norwich direction there is a hard standing just after it crosses the boarder so I'm betting that's going to become a favorite spot for the Norfolk camera van)

Not crashing the economy down an abyss so deep nobody ever sees it again?

Went up and down the a11 yesterday and it was looking pretty much ready to roll. Lovely looking bit of road. Saw the scam van collecting on the thickthorn roundabout from Norwich bound victims. I think there must be an inappropriate 40 there ker-ching.

Three night closures this week, and according to this article it's still on schedule.

"Highways Agency project manager Geoff Chatfield said: “We continue to progress well on the scheme which is due for completion this winter.”

I hope the southbound queuing at the Barton Mills roundabout is sorted by then, otherwise what's the point?

Indeed - they really don't seem to have thought to hard about that one - it was always rubbish with only one lane in approach - with two it's still going to be rubbish

southbound the two lanes split into 3 at the roundabout (mildenhall right lane, a11 middle and A11 and bury left lane)
