So the value of oil has fallen some 23% since August when we were being told by the SNP that there was £7bn per year of revenues in it.

Many believed that this estimate was exaggerated by some 40% however if we take a middle of the road view it would have been £5.6 billion and with the reduced value of crude it would now be £4.3 billion.

Thats £1.3 billion in revenue lost in 2 months.

So why is a petro economy a good idea again??????
But the falling oil price is purely down to the english trying to oppress the good hard working people of the democratic workers republic of scotland via those bdS in wastemonster calling up their mates to fk us over

once we are FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE then the oil price will be $5000000 a barrel

Its certainly a hit to the current tax take it also certainly means some fields are simply not viable to drill at that price level.

Didn't SNP state a price of $110/barrel and volume towards the upper end of expectations - so they have the pricing well off meaning instant gaps to funding meaning which taxes are raised or which spending is cut? As for volume low prices means fewer new oil fields. Hmm be interesting to hear from a Pro Yes supporter

If they had voted Yes before day one they would have to halve defence spending ouch or is it a case of b/st responses

They needed those even without the drop in the oil price.

The key is Scotland/Pro Yes should have proposed a budget in which oil is genuinely a bonus a surplus.

For the SNP to sprout on about UK is the only country to see oil reserves as an issue is bloody stupid - the UK wants it to be a surplus sadly it isn't but thankfully its a miniscule contribution as such even if it was zero it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Question for you all though... Is British nationalism (which is apparent here) any better or worse than Scottish nationalism?

British nationalism is mostly about not liking foreigners.

Yeah, there's quite a bit of 'let's get our of the EU' based on near total ignorance of our history and trade relationships, but it's mostly based upon forgetting that Britain does not = England and harking back to the good old days of exploiting other races around the globe, whilst quietly ignoring the Welsh, Jocks etc who all speak funny and don't like us anyway.

Whereas Scottish nationalism is almost entirely about eceonomic opportunism and not liking the English.

Where Scottish nationalism is almost entirely about segregation.

So is a Scottish independence-ist the same as a 'nat' then, based on that?

An interesting letter in the post today.

Our beloved SNP led Scottish government has been running a series of adverts on TV informing us of changes to the way the electoral role is administered apparently.

Today had a nice personalised letter telling me the same but with the all important details, very interesting indeed and gave conformation that I was on the electoral register but not the OPEN register,[the one the council can flog off or give away] and that this is not going to change, ok.

NOW, going back to the last few days of the referendum campaign, I believe I may have mentioned my discussion with some nationalist pollsters in our street as to what they were writing down on a sheet of paper that had the voting occupants listed by both address and name??

They refused to say what they were writing down and refused to show it to me on request, I was concerned as they had no visible identification on them, I had to "enforce" a quick shuftee much to their annoyance BTW. smile

Were they even authorised to have that information?

Even with any new oil discoveries, Scotland would've been screwed based on current oil prices anyway!
