Hi All,

Can anyone help me change a change the throttle cable on my Griff? I'm staying in Bracklesham Bay ( near East Wittering). Quite happy to get my hands dirty but need someone that knows what they are doing to supervise!

Bloody cable snapped in the Hindhead Tunnel of all places. Great start to the Revival weekend...

Much gratitude and beer tokens will be provided.

Cheers, Stuart

They are a pain to do.

If in doubt, a length of string through the drivers window and call in at Fernies.

go to a garden centre and get a length of green tie wire...tie it to the end of the throttle cable in the engine bay and draw it back through the inner wing from the foot well, attach new throttle cable to wire and draw throttle cable back into engine bay...simples wink

E.T.A. at least that's how I managed to do it on two Griffs.

Thanks all. About to venture outside to take a look in the light. Bluebottle, you confidence in me is misfounded(!) but prepared to give it a go....

If that fails I'll start ringing numbers. Thanks for the suggestions.

Presumably the know (or whatever) had to be very slim to get through the outer cable?

From memory you'll need a 24mm spanner to undo the nut(s) securing the cable to the throttle linkage.

where has the cable snapped pedal or throttle end? & is there enough cable to "rig it" with choc blocs etc ?

Replace cable and sleeve as one, I would never recommend replacing the cable only in the original sleeve...if the cable has fraid and snapped the sleeving won't be in good condition. if you are trying a temporary fix with some cable then make sure the broken cable end is trimmed as best you can to limit damage to the sleeve when you draw it out, and coat the new cable in Vaseline before inserting into sleeve...got to say i've rarely been successful this way.

Ok gents. Thanks for advice and suggestions.

All has ended well thanks to the village's local garage. Turns out the owner has an S3 and couldn't see a fellow Tivver in distress. Cable now replaced and we are on our way into the Revival smile

Major thanks to Tony and team at Bracklesham Garage smile

I see, thanks for the tip I will remember that.
