All,
I'm having to get myself a monitor watch to wear all the time. Therefore I'd prefer to have one that is a stand-alone unit, rather than one with a separate band. I'm also after one that doesn't look massively out of place in the office...

Any thoughts please?

Currently, there exist only two heart rate monitors without a band that are accurate: the TomTom Multi-Sport Cardio or Runner Cardio. Both are variants of the same watch. Neither would look OK whilst wearing a suit!

And they also don't work as a HRM whilst in 'normal' mode....

I don't believe for a minute that the iWatch will be able to provide accurate heart rate monitoring, but it certainly will look better for work than the TomTom.

HbA1c is an average blood glucose reading over a period of time. I doubt any watch will provide that in the foreseeable future. However, I could imagine a continuous (real time) blood glucose monitor coming to market within my lifetime. We've been very close already, so I think it will happen eventually.

Not sure if this will fit the bill, but might be worth a look

Thank you - I saw this at the weekend somewhere. I might have to investigate further...

This is something I've been looking into recently. I've found that you either have a daily HRM tracking your everyday heart rate or a dedicate sports HRM. They don't do both due to battery issues. At least, none of the ones I've seen do.

Mio are releasing a new model called the Fuse. See here. It looks like it can do both daily activity and sports but not at the same time. http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2014/08/optical-heart-u...

Sorry mate yes I ment giving a real time reading.
Your link is defiantly the closest we have got to none invasive real time reading, but poor accuracy and reactions to the chemical they put under the skin lead to the failure of the company, which was brought and then dissolved by another company that makes the blood test meter's via a lancet.
Keep in mind this was 12 years ago.

Its something I was hoping to see in my lifetime. smile
