Currently got an issue with the cooling fans just being ornamental. frown
I tried my trusty 'fan override' wire that bypasses the connectors at the bottom of the (Pre-Serp) expansion tank and that did squat, so replaced the relay in the fusebox, tried the 'fan override' and all was well, fan wazzing round happily so thought all was now sorted. smile
Had a few more jobs to do so thought I'd see if they kicked in wired up normally, car got up to temp, I heard them kick in for a brief moment then stop, car continued to warm up to the point of over heating and nothing from the fans, now I try the 'override wire' and back to the beginning, bugger all from the fans. banghead
Anyone got any ideas? confused

I believe early Chims and Griffs had one relay for the fans at 40 amps and have heard of fuse boards melting, later ones have 2 X 30 amp relays.
If you have a fuse box problem, why not take fresh feed from a main red lead some where (or battery) and run that feed thru' two 30 amp relays (terminal 30) fitted on the inner wing, then the feed from the other side of the relay to each of the fans (terminal 87). Then take an Ignition fed current to the otter switch and from the otter switch to terminal 85 of the relays with a lead from relay (terminal 86) to earth.
Fuse the main power leads at 35amp with in line fuses and the Ign lead at 5amp, again with in line fuse. The 30 amp relays cost about a fiver each.
