Toyota Chaser 1JZ-GTE

Passed MOT tonight, one step closer.
In NI, you need headlight washer for Xenon bulbs regardless of whether they're factory or not. So you'll see a lot of Jap imports rocking this look on the day.
Yes it passes, and yes the MOT testers joke about them being removed 30 minutes later to be kept until next year.

Keep us updated, I'm beginning to wonder if bringing one of these over would make more sense that manual swapping my Soarer.
Sorry to hear about the gear knob going missing, but it could be worse. I've heard of cars turning up undrivable because the crew helped themselves to some bits.

I'm officially jelly.
I've spend the day eyeing up cars on the site you linked us to, but getting a proper breakdown as to what to expect to pay for a JZX100 with all the basic mods already done seems a bit difficult. I've seen a couple pop up around the £6k mark already in the country, but you'd think importing would be the way to go, but saying that one with a good (but not amazing) spec went for 870k/£5k FOB so before shipping, VAT and all that, so I'm not entirely sure.

Send them a message on Facebook or call the number, you'll probably get Patrick or Regina.I've spend the day eyeing up cars on the site you linked us to, but getting a proper breakdown as to what to expect to pay for a JZX100 with all the basic mods already done seems a bit difficult. Like I said, mine came up at a small auction house on a quiet Saturday morning so got lucky price wise.
I was considering buying in the UK, but the problem is 99% of them have seen more than a handful of drift days and the condition/repairs may be questionable. At least buying from Japan, the auction sheets are normally a pretty honest description of condition and any accident damage. Now I've had it on a 2 post myself and had it through MOT with the testers remarking on the condition, I'm glad I pursued the import option. I can now get it properly sealed and know underneath is in great order.
Car looks great, and fantastic that the power is still there.
I live in Hong Kong and visit Japan regularly so it is pretty easy to by or import one. All JZX100's here are imports, mostly in sad States and modified 'agriculturally'.
I found a 98 Toyota MKII with the same engine as yours for just over 2k stiirling. BUT it's an auto, manual cars are pretty rare in HK.
But I do have factory grey leather interior which I have never seen before. It also has Tein suspension. Not to mention a ridiculous bass speaker in the boot with dedicated amp, just what a 43 year old guy with three kids who works in financial services needs 😃

Is that boot spoiler stock? It looks just right.
I need to get someything for mine. Someone had previoulsy put some sort of wing on as there are holes drilled, but I want something subtle that adds a little weight over the back. The traction control has been cpompletely disabled, and I actually want to be able to go around corners in the wet, with my headlights in front of my brake lights.

I don't think so, mine doesn't have it anyway. Yahoo auctions in Japan are your friend for parts. Shipping should be a bit more straight forward for you I might have hoped?
Mine has TCS removed too. With the stiffening all round it is a disaster / joy in the wet depending on your mood. Full throttle in 1st-3rd is inadvisable even on dry tarmac.

Hi Art0ir,
Please can I ask you some advice? I am visiting Japan over the next two weeks, one week in Fukuoka, and another week in Tokyo.
I will be flying business class on my return from tokyo, so I will have 10kg carry on luggage allowance and 30kg hold allowance.
In Tokyo I am planning on visiting Autobacs, and I have a few thousand dollars to spend on upgrades to my JZX100 :-)
The car already has Tein suspension, and I think the engine has been 'chipped' and the boost turned up. There is also a pretty good looking stainless steal exhaust system. I want to come back with a couple of boxes of parts to have installed back in Hong Kong. What would you recomment i purchase to improve my car as a fast street car, not a drift machine?
I am thinking induction, cooling etc, but I really don't know that much about this engive and turbos generally.
Anyone else have a view, I woul be very pleased to hear from you.

Very difficult to advise on mods without knowing exactly what is there in the first place! Even then you may be better speaking to your local tuners and see what they're comfortable with after you decide what you want; more power, stiffer chassis, etc.
In terms of importing, best to speak with who you want and they'll give you a login to the auctions where you can see what's coming up. Then send the company a deposit and they'll bid for you.
