Finally got around to looking for the cause of the passenger window occasionally detaching from the lower channel - not a pretty sight, but I think it's the original, so no real surprise. Based on some earlier threads, it appears that the Range Rover Classic front door channels are the same - they look it from the Rimmers website:

Can anyone confirm that these do actually fit please? In addition, the rubber that hold the glass inside the channel needs replacing - again, I've seen reference to a couple of items at Woolies, but these appear to be for the vertical window channels, rather than the horizontal channel that the window rests in. On my car, this appears to be simply a flat section of rubber, rather than a shaped section, which has merely been folded to fit into the channel. Again looking at Rimmers, their rubber for this channel also appears to be flat. Anyone done this job before? Thanks

Hi mate...This is something i need to do also but i believe the window runners need a bit of fettling as the opening is a bit too big...The wheels on the lift mechanism can pop out of position which can be a right pain in the rarse..For the rubber i would measure the thickness and then just use some nitrile rubber sheet, Not sure if it has to extend the whole length of the window but i would replace like for like...Cheers...Ziga

Yes the Rimmers Rangey ones work well.

Obviously try it on full extension up and down a few times before replacing the door cards.

Ive recently used the Rimmers Rangey ones on mine.. they work well but the actual 'C' section of the bracket that the scissor rollers fit into is slightly larger than the rollers themselves.. ( chance of them popping out)

However.. I have not modded the section yet and all is fine.
I did the up and down test a few times to locate the brackets onto the window in correct position.

With regards to the rubber.. I have used a few strips of cut rubber sheet approx 1mm thick just pushed into the bracket which folded around the bottom of the window whilst being pushed into the channel.

No pics at the moment but do intend to post a few up.

The only thing is.... on mine, there is a small rubber section that fits under the metal plate at the rear of the door by the roof.. It came out when I removed the window and I cannot get it back in and glued in a position where is doesnt fowl the window movement.. I think it is just to protect the window against hitting the metal plate ??

Just something to watch out for..

OK, got the Rangie versions, and they are quite a bit different:

Not so concerned about the lengths, but the channels. The window channel at its narrowest point where it's crimped is about 3mm narrower than the original, so there is no way to fit the window (4mm) plus the 2mm rubber (x2 for the fold) into it without risking breaking the glass - 8mm total width going into a 6.5mm channel. I suppose I could ease the channel out a bit, but for me the bigger problem is the channel that the balls from the motor arms fit into. The balls are barely held in (by maybe 1mm)because it's so tall, and the depth of the channel is way too shallow for the balls - by maybe 5mm, so there's a real risk that the balls will pop out of the channel.
All in all, not very suitable. I think the next step is to speak to the guy who did a great repair on my seat base about fabricating some new ones. Will post up the results.

Hi mate...There is a considerably different there...I picked one up at the fest....It looks like this...

The window rest is about 8mm wide so it looks to be what you need...Not sure where these came from originally..Perhaps Barrington can remember....Cheers...Ziga
