Hanging around "Homes, Gardens and DIY" might be worth it, loads of Architect questions with not that many contributing. Wouldn't push your services, but answer intelligently and the slow burn will no doubt help. (P.S. currently just about to start an extension, if PD goes through)

I would target all the local estate agents. They will be the very first to find buyers talking about extending or knocking about.

Visit them, don't call them. Maybe offer a little incentive of a bottle of bubbly or a crate of beer for each referral that leads to a visit / meeting. Not a great cost and could be a great way of getting a quick hit of clients.

I have always thought of doing this local to me but my product is to specialist, an aerial / sat installer friend does this with good success.

As with most home related businesses it's invariably the female in the house who decides she wants a new kitchen, extension, decking etc. Bear this in mind when marketing the business. Sell to women.

Get some nice leaflets made up. Find some friendly local newsagents. Insert leaflets into every home and garden type magazine available. Repeat monthly.

Local. Low cost. Gives the impression you've spent big money.

I'm a marketing guy, not a lawyer. smile

I've read the opening post four times and still don't understand it. Do you want help or don't you? Are you buying or selling?

Sorry Simpo, what seems to be the confusion? I was just after a discussion/ suggestions of (relatively) low cost marketing avenues and techniques for a small architectural design company as we are starting small and don't have a fortune to spent on marketing.

what do you mean are we buying or selling?

cheers, Craig

Bit of an update, I've had some A6 double sided postcards printed, and we've visited lots of local estate agents, one was so impressed they are going to include a postcard with every info pack on all their completed house sales to the new owners! smile

Interest is picking up to the point we have quoted for about 4 or 5 local jobs, so even if a couple of those come off, we should have enough work to keep us ticking over for the next couple of months. We are certainly learning what is seeming to work for us, and having the website up and running properly is certainly helping as well.

Thanks again for your help all, there are some really good ideas in this thread we are going to work our way though over time as we hopefully grow smile

Cheers

Craig
