Found that doing in a deep fat fryer gives the best results. Nice and crispy on the outside, soft in the middle.

I don't currently own a deep fat fryer so shallow fried is next best then grilled if you must.

That's the saddest thing I'll read all week.

Fish finger sandwiches should be available free on the NHS.

By coincidence I had fish fingers in a roll with chips for lunch today.

I have to say, oven baked is easiest for fish fingers. Ignore the 'turn them over halfway through' bit; it's only there to make lazy people feel like they cooked something. Spend the time making your own tartar sauce instead.

They have to be white fish fillet fishfingers not the cheap mushed up crap.

Long gone are the cod fishfingers, shame.

Fear not, I have bought a packet of fish fingers and will consume them later in the week.

Basically, put them in the oven - then turn the oven ON! I cannot stress this enough!
You have to turn the oven on, people! Too often i hear of people who have lost their teeth biting frozen produce!

Grilled, top layer removed, cover in pepper and put between fresh white bread.. Then dip into tomato sauce.

Does anyone else remove the top layer of breadcrumbs and eat them at the end?

Either grill or cook in a non stick pan - no oil.
Red and brown sauce, first done by a good mate of mine who sadly is no longer with us, reminds me of being a kid in summer holidays.

Youngs?

I like them but would only buy them on offer, two quid for eight fishy fingers....

Tend to look for Pollack fillet fish fingers if buying from somewhere with a choice.

No. Just no.

They HAVE to be the ones made from cheap mushed up crap, or they are NOT fish fingers. They are just small portions of fish. What you are making is a fish sandwich, not a fish finger sandwich.
