Managed to get myself flashed this morning on my first ever commute into the city...

On the Jamaica road a little past Bermondsey tube station by one of those little cameras that does both the red lights and speed (was just red lights last time I cycled past). Am I right thinking they're digital so it'll be on its way automatically, likely 38-42 mph range, no excuses barring a van putting its left indicator on when I was alongside (I was in bus lane).

I've only got an SP50 from 2010 on there ATM - 78mph on the motorway, any chance of a course do you think?

So, just to get this straight, you're in a bus lane (I assume an inactive one) and you are so startled by a van next to you indicating (this usually means it is going to move after you've passed) that you suddenly accelerate to about 30% more than the limit?

You can use some bus lanes outside of rush hour....

To clarify its London and I was on a little CBR125 so bus lanes are ok, when your on a bike it's not ideal to be inside a van and just behind the passenger window when the indicator comes on...well that was my attitude when I cycled to work

Annoying as I've only had a bike (any bike) for a week!

Throttle response, innit! You might still get offered a course, and even if you don't it's only three points and £100, and if your insurer is any good it won't give much of a toss about that.

i'm in the same boat
got a little annoyed by another car, blasted past at about 50 on a 40 road, just after i tucked back in i spotted a camera van up ahead.
reviewed my dash cam's gps log, it suggests i might have been doing 55 the moment there was first line of sight to the camera van frown

78mph. Now it's getting silly. I've still not had a single person ask me to pay their fine for getting done at 79mph, let alone 78mph.

I suspect most of us on here have had the two weeks of joy.

If it helps I didn't get any 'unfortunate' post during my last one in June, although it was a traffic car not a camera and given the glance the officer and I exchanged (and possibly his lip reading skills) I suspect he realised he had made his point, without the need for points...

In this thread http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... the op claims to have a nip for 67 in a 60.

I wouldn't think twice about passing a fixed camera within the guidelines but I'm never too sure about camera vans, they are only guidelines after all.

Yep, was 78, still have the ticket somewhere...

M25 between J3-4 clockwise coming back from Bluewater, inside lane with CC showing 80, go past J3 and they must have come from there...(low sun and no traffic) stay in L1 as going off at J4 when approaching a MLM with about 1/2 a mile to the junction, I get pulled over as I take the exit and given the ticket, let me off the "undertaking" when i say i didnt change lanes and was taking the exit but did me for 78mph, I was perfectly courteous throughout, yes sir/officer etc.

Loon, if I do get this one from today and I can find my old 78mph ticket will you pay it wink

No, but I'd like to see a scan of the ticket for 78 please.

That's incredibly unlucky. Was it an unmarked? I'm a 'frequent flyer' on that stretch and in 20+ years I can count on the fingers of both hands the number of times I've seen one in full livery between those junctions.

I often exit at J4 and it can be quite difficult to avoid passing lane 2 traffic in Lane 1. For some peculiar reason, even if its flowing normally at the J3 on ramp, traffic always begins to bunch here just before the J4 1 mile exit sign becomes visible.

It would be nice to see a pic of the paperwork with the speed clearly visible.
