Not mine but my Mum's, doesn't stop me being rather excited though! It is to replace a MY11 HSE which was stolen this summer. Spec is Loire Blue with Ebony leather (I wanted Ivory!), Grand Black Lacquer and a few options like rubber mats, door protection strips, mudflaps etc...and a tracker this time! The MY15 cars have standard 20s which we weren't too thrilled about and may try and swap for 19s ride dependent. Will post pics once collected.

Anyone driven both 6-speed and 8-speed Disco 4s? Is there a real world performance and/or economy difference on the later cars? Has anyone driven a Disco 4 on both 19s and 20s? Is there a noticeable reduction in ride comfort on 20s?

Any input appreciated!

Sorry cant speak for the wheel sizes but just to say I have recently bought my wife 4 HSE and she is very happy with it.
I think hers has 19" an I'd give it a 9/10 for rider wise (disco that is;) )

I've driven both gearboxes but not rim differences. ZF 8 speed is smooth but can do some frustrating things like geardown when not wanted and clunk around at low speeds (mainly when slowing in traffic). The 'command' overide feature using paddles is useful.
The same system on my RR didn't actually work quite right and had to be re-flashed, now works a treat.

I have 19 and 20" wheels for my 8spd sept 2012 HSE. Honestly it's not a big difference and that Scorpions vs 19" Vred winter tyres. In reality the ride is so insulated by the air suspension you'll be comfortable either way. If you're not sure have a short ride in a Q7 or X5 and then return to comfort!

The 8spd reliably return 32mpg wight he SDV6 engine. It's a great gearbox. Rob is right about it having the occasional moment but it's barely noticeable. The one annoying thing is how long it can take to respond to an initial accelerator input but I guess that's an engine/map issue. Performance with the 8spd is great. It's a perfectly respectable performance in all circumstances and in reality with 2.7 the behind me I don't need any more power thanks!

Thanks for the input, now looking like next week collection though. Must say I'm quite looking forward to having a play with the paddles, although can't help but feel it won't suit this sort of car!

They don't suit the car on the road but are of course ideal for towing and off-roading. It also give instantaneous changes which was a bit of a surprise - some of these systems are really dumbed down almost as if the car is double checking you're allowed to do it. Not so with this box.

Hesitation when initially setting off seams to be a "feature" for LR. I have experienced this with our 2.7 D3, 3.0 D4 and MY14 3.0RRS. When pulling out of a junction, I always manually changed to 1st gear for instant response.

I ran 19" wheels with winter tyres and 20" wheels with summer tyres on our D4. The handling is slightly sharper with 20" wheels filled a. Slightly firmer on the 20" but only noticeable when swapping the wheels over.

We picked it up yesterday, great improvement on the previous MY11 car! The paddles improve the driving experience no end, I really like being able to use a bit of engine braking rather than dabbing the brakes before corners. The ride seems brilliant and it definitely handles better than our last one. Loire Blue is darker than we expected but is a lovely colour with the sunlight on it IMO.

Nice. Like the wheels. The dark blues really set them off IMO.

They do look good but wouldn't spec them if they weren't now standard, 19s make more sense!
