Thermostat for S1 ?

Hi guys,

I can't find the part number for a s1 (280s) thermostat ? (is it a 82 or 88 degrees ??) Not sure about the coolant too...red or blue ??

It's 88 and Blue but cant remember part no off hand will look it up

I don't think you really need a part number, just ask your local autostore for a Capri 2.8i thermostat. Or there's always "Ebay"


Any good quality anti-freeze, isn't blue generally the cheaper (one year) stuff and the red lasts longer (three year)?

I have it on good authority that the red & blue antifreeze are incompatible, if mixed together they can form a brown sludge that is harmfull to the cooling system components.

Stick to one or the other, but if changing types, ensure you fully flush the system first.

My S1 has always had the blue Ford spec stuff.
