Maybe not exactly one of the best pieces of cinema ever, but I really enjoyed Jeepers Creepers, right up until the point the evil protagonist turned out to be an alien. With fecking wings.
Errm well as it flew and wasn't human just what did you think it was?

All very good shouts, agree with those, some massive feelings of anticlimax plus one of the worst - Knowing.

Porky's II - a magnificent piece of cinematography from Director James Komack, let down by a lacklustre and predictable conclusion.

Very good!

I thought it was a demon?

The original Star Wars.

It should have ended with the Death Star blowing up but they had to have a super cheesy medal ceremony with at the end. At least the next film got a better ending. And they ruined it again with the third.

I thought it was the best horror I had ever seen, the the frigging thing started to fly and the film went downhill fast, but the first half was utterly brilliant.

Dark Knight. Brilliant opening and then ruined by the action stuff for kids at end.

Are you thinking of the sequel? No flying in the original movie until the end...

In fairness to war of the worlds, the ending reflects the book fairly well. Aliens die of common cold/heartburn/stubbed toes or miscellaneous other things to which they are not immune, and there is a cheesy re-uniting of main protagonist and loved one.

Incidentally love the book, thought the film was ok - but does have the massive plot hole of why build the machines aeons ago, anticipating man making the planet comfortably liveable and popping along to man the machines already in place? Weird.

Did somebody say Revolver?

I made a point of watching it yesterday. Can't help but feel there's a good film in there, somewhere, but it got lost in the editing room... I'm no great smarty pants but few film plots have ever confused me (they're never that complicated, really) but that thing left me BAFFLED.

Still, it looked good. Very comic book and before comic book really came into vogue.

Yes.
If only they'd had the balls to swap the fates of those two characters at the end - if it had been the other way around it would have been much better and darker.
Agreed on that. In fact knowing how it ends renders the entire film unwatchable Jamie Foxx should have been killed and Butler should have outwitted him

Forrest Gump. About 15 minutes too long.

Pay It Forward. Why did the little boy have to be killed at the end?

American Beauty - terrific movie spoiled by an ending that belonged in another film completely.

Maybe the thread should be renamed "Films whose ending is ruined by someone who doesn't know how to use spoiler tags". smile

I'm sure someone will post the twist in the ending to The Sixth Sense shortly.

The ninth gate. Johnny Depp horror about a book written by the devil. Quite good until it goes full retard at the end.

I've got to agree with that.
