Ok, so the hard part is over and done with and I'm now looking at putting all our health and safety bits and pieces into order.

My company employs 8 members of staff and I'm honestly at a bit if a loss as to where to start. Our insurer put us in touch with a none local firm who will sort everything out (or so they say) for around a grand a year-not exactly cheap!

However, as with any new business although I want to lower initial outgoings if my time is better spent elsewhere I'm happy to pay someone to do the job-only problem being I've yet to be recommended anyone decent!

Industry is hair/beauty therapy/massage etc in the north west.

Any hints or tips, people seem to assure me it's simple but I've yet to find anything as simple as a "click here to download and fill in the blanks" type website.

I feel your pain.

I employ the same number of people and am in the same boat. What annoys me most, is its a useless made up industry. These people belong on "Ark B".
When I discussed H&S with a friend who runs a similar sized business, he said he did it all himself and that most of it was common sense, so I am considering doing the same.

I don't doubt it'll all be pretty simple, especially after everything you go through to get things up and running! It would just make life easier if there were some sort of "fill in the blanks" website that you could download to take you through it.

Have you tried your local council's environmental health? After all they're the ones to serve a prohibition notice if you're doing it wrong.
