bowtie I was extremely pleased & proud ( ooo-err missus ) yesterday at the end of our highly enjoyable Blyton Park trackday, to receive the Clarence Bodigger Trophy for the Go Car not Show Car Award 2014.

I would like to thank all those who voted for Austin, and also those who didn't vote for someone else.

Austin is currently asleep under his top cover, filthy dirty & unwashed & with his front wheels covered in brake dust for some inexplicable reason ( I hardly used the brakes honest! wink ). I reckon he has earned a little rest after this weekend. sleep
He has done me proud in the 3 years & 20,000 miles I have had the privilege of being his caretaker. cloud9
So many adventures, memorable journeys and the opportunity to meet so many genuinely friendly & caring people that I would otherwise never have met.
I feel humble. bow

I never knew Ken Appleton, in whose memory the Trophy was created, but I am a dedicated believer in his philosophy:

" It's better to drive it than polish it." smile

Let's raise a virtual glass in memory of Ken beerbeer

Thanks all of you fellow S peoples , give yourselves a big round of applause, you deserve it. clap

... and I hope you get to the bottom of "Austins" little stalling issue without too much headache or expense!

Thanks Mike,
I gave him a damn good thrashing yesterday driving but he cut out again on the long uphill stretch into Retford, bit of an awkward spot, but managed to get off the road. The engine would start then immediately die, start & die and so on. frown
I cleaned up a few connectors, sprayed the dizzy module with some WD, checked the main HT lead from the coil which is showing signs of chafing because the clamshell insulation is coming unstuck in that area.
After this bit of fiddling about, he never missed a beat all the way home. smile
I'm pretty sure it's an ign. problem, not fuel, but these intermittant faults are always the trickiest to find.
As I said last week, I never had a problem with my 2.8 - until you mentioned it. wink

Andy,
I only just twigged what you meant by 'reading room' biggrin

Quote from the missus:
"What's that rusty piece of metal doing in the house?"

I informed her in no uncertain terms that it was a much coveted ( and much travelled ) trophy awarded in memory of a respected S man called Ken who had passed away, and that it will take pride of place in the trophy cabinet next to my 'SCH 2012 Best S1' trophy and our kids' swimming, BAGA, and dancing awards until next year when the time will come to pass it on to the next worthy recipient.

"Oh".

I can tell she's really thrilled smile

Pah. 6,000 miles in 6 months. Does mean you crash into the back of a van though.

Jokes aside, fully deserved awardation.

Stewart,
That's a noble mileage in such a short period, especially counting the time on track.
Hopefully you'll soon be back in the running for next year's awardation.

But shouldn't that be 'awardment' ? biggrin
