Hi all,

My Chim500 radiator is working on at the moment, but nearing it's last legs and I'd like to get a replacement.

I've been told that a standard Sierra radiator is a suitable part. Would I be looking for a similar year to my own car?

Thanks in advance

Not to my knowledge Brazen. I'm under the impression it's a modified Land Rover unit. But I could be wrong. Someone will be along soon to confirm this.

The early Range Rover 3.5 rad fits a treat, same dimension as the original TVR fitted item, the inlet and outlet match perfectly; you just need to blank off the two 6mm outlet.

Just had my rad recored in Luton. The rad man instantly recognised it as Range Rover.

Thanks all.

Has anyone recored their rad? Is it a good thing to do, or just a temporary solution?

Had mine re-cored and it was noticeably much more efficient, the fans didn't have to run as often and when they ran they had to run for less time. No it's not temporary, it is the same as fitting a new rad.

I had mine recored approx. 5 years ago. Also took the opportunity to replace all of the hoses and the old 'S' pipe on the bottom hose with a new stainless one.

The rad. is a Range Rover one, but the bottom hose outlet is a slightly different shape, ie RR is straight and TVR angled.

The bottom hose varies on TVR's also ~ some straight stubs some tight 90degs...

I've still never seen a LR/RR one the same, they have transmission oil cooler ports and a take off for expansion tank which the TVR ones don't.
