It is good.Informative and you get plenty of beer.

Try the Meantime one too. Good but very, very different.

And if anyone's ever near Oxford, the Hook Norton one is superb. Incredible place.

Fuller's is cracking. Make sure you check out the vintage ales and the church ale (made with wild hops from the churchyard behind the brewery!) in the shop.

I grew up next to the brewery, fantastic place.

How did you get on op? I live very close by and have never been. O/t I hadn't realised they bought gales of Horndean another brewery I am fond of.

Enjoyed it. Its about an hour long, and theyve kept a lot of the older equipment, mainly becuase it yuo can actually see the processes involved. In the modern working part, everything happens inside two big stainless vats which only have little portholes.

The revelation for me thoug, was tasting individual grains of malted barley. I cant put into words just how much flavour one tiny grain of barley can fill your mouth with.Astonishing. And the different flavours from different malts as well.

I though the sampling was a little bit tight on measures, but I guess you have only paid a tenner....

Worth doing, if only to then spend an afternoon in Chiswick pubs..... ;-)

Hogs Back Brewery is really very good. They are certainly not tight on the samples!
