Nothing cool about being ripped off. Is that from that strange chap in Warwickshire ?
There's everything cool about having a car that handles. wink and no, not by a strange chap, by an expert. It took about ten hours to go through the suspension and get everything right. I've spent thousands on components, this was the best value by far. smile
Including a road test after adjustments then back on the ramp to recheck all the settings ?
Yup, all weighted up with me onboard etc. Thorough doesn't do it justice smile

Many cars have few adjustable components. Some cars are fully adjustable.

And of course - as you as you tighten or loosen one bolt - it affects all the others.
If you want the exact readings - it takes time to get everything bang on.

For most folks on PH - the £49 option is all that the car needs.
If your car is "proper" - you will likely find spending the extra worth it.
Don't know about anyone else, but I am happy with trusting Porsche with the alignment specs, not some self proclaimed "expert."

But WW's car seems to be a TreVoR. And even proper manufacturers get it wrong (ISTR that WiM fixed some Lexus IS200 geo issue by varying significantly from Lexus' spec.)

I was there when Chris was speaking to the OPC about the geo setup they did on his wife's Boxster. It wasn't very good apparently.

You'd spend more on components, why not on services?

I took my Merc there a couple fo years ago after recommendations on the MB forums to cure the W203 C Class issue of rolling on left lock.

Didn't make myself known when I arrived so I don't think I got any special pricing. Car was actually not far out and only needed a couple of minor adjustments.

Cost was £50.

I wouldn't ever expect a full alignment done for under £50, it's a fair amount of work. Some will consider alignment as just toe but on my car you have camber to adjust on all four wheels, as well as toe in and on the front, adjustable caster too. That all takes time to get settled into the right place, especially given many cars are beaten back with rusty bolts and seized parts. Proper alignment on a proper car takes time to get right if you want it at its best.

Just paid £30, but that was because it only required a small adjustment on the front toe. Good value really as you still get all 4 wheels checked.

Would have been £100 if it needed camber etc too.

Just booked my 320d sport tourer in in St Helens, the wheel alignment check is free. Then 30 quid for 2 wheels, 50 quid for all 4 wheels. Seems a cracking price that!

£60 all in, local kwik fit (closest hunter machine to me) actually did it correctly aswell.
Euromaster in Rochdale did mine, front and rear. Chap showed me what he was doing and he clearly knew what he was up to (I had replaced every single suspension part and arm, front and rear) - car drove like new afterwards.

Got mine done last year and had to watch the operator like a hawk. First mistake he made was selecting a LHD rather than RHD version of my car from the database.

Doesn't matter how nice and green your printout at the end is if the wrong reference settings have been used.

Mine cost £200 as they spent all afternoon doing it. As it’s a rare 1970’s car they had to programme it from scratch with the WSM details I gave them.
