Well, today's the day and I'm guessing phones will start show new software available from about 6pm tonight.

I've read some of the press about IOS8, personally I'm looking forward to using cloud more for my on phone/pad photo's (I have over 20gb of photos on the phone currently),improved messaging but other than that can't think of much else albeit some of the features may come into their own on the new 6 and 6 plus?

Post here with your experience of the upgrade and thoughts re IOS8 once loaded, I'm sure there will be features we aren't all aware of yes

Shame it doesn't explicitly state which features will be available on the 4S, although I'm expecting the 4S to become even more unusable with iOS8.

Battery monitoring is useful, although that has been on WP for quite a while now.

Now that podcasts is built in, I wonder if it'll be more "persistent"?

yes I'm actually still on iOS 6 on my 4S, having seen iOS 7 crawling on my wife's 4S. The trouble is I don't want an iPhone 6 and the 5S is now only coming in 16 and 32GB...

Im praying EE supports calls over wifi, no carrier can get a signal in our village due to its location and surrounding landscape, so that would be a massive thing for us.
Same thing with texting normal phones from iMessage

iOS7 does indeed crawl on the 4S. I'll probably hold off upgrading to iOS8 as it is a corporate phone and our MDM solution may not play nicely with iOS8 (odds are that it'll be fine).

Shame that we won't have the iPhone 6/6+ available as a company phone upgrade, apparently our policy is that all of the new iPhones go to customers, not staff .... (I work at one of the telcos).

Darned. Our MDM solution apparently won't play nicely with iOS8 until there are some backend system updates.

iOS 7 actually runs pretty well on my 4S. I'm looking forward to putting iOS 8 on.

Anyone had any joy in downloading iOS 8 yet? Both my iPad 3 and iPhone 5S are currently failing to download, which isn't really surprising as the upgrade servers are probably overloaded.

Both my iPad and iPhone 5 are currently downloading.

One has about 45 minutes to go and the other 3 hours.

Currently saying 50 minutes remaining, with almost 50 mins elapsed) on mine.
I thought Apple were supposed to have implemented a new delivery system to stop this happening, but it seems much much slower than when iOS7 was released.

It's being better managed, so less of a free for all. this means a bit slower for those that got lucky last time but overall a more predictable experience for the ISP's the end users and apples registration servers.

Mines installing now so about a 50 minute download :/

Its a bit patronising that Apple won't allow you to download the update on non-Wifi connections when I'm in Central London with 2 x 4G SIMs with healthy allowances and 5 times as much bandwidth as I get at home.

Fortunately I can Wifi tether the iPhone off the iPad and vice versa but you shouldn't really have to.

Needs 4.7gb of storage. I don't even have enough for space for another U2 album.

Oh come on, yeah yeah you've got it all going on (except for st bandwidth at home :P ) but really??

It's 95% of most peoples monthly 3/4G allowance, can you imagine the complaints if Apple allowed that?

They don't seem so bothered about preventing people from enabling and consuming roaming data at £2/MB or buying £100 in-app purchases in kids games though...

Don't get me started on rural broadband!!

Just tried to do it. Does it really need 4.7gb out of my measly 16gb iPhone 5?!

My phone is jumping between 16 mins and about 17 hours!
My iPad is 6 hours frown

My other half is sat in the same room, both of hers are fully downloaded and installing, bloody typical
