They were having a field day last night flashing left right and centre up near Ikea despite no variable limit being in force. I had no idea they went off when no variable limit was in force!

I've found a topic on here last year where someone else got flashed under similar circumstances and they didn't receive a ticket. Has it happened to anyone since and what was the outcome?

I'm hoping either they either aren't issuing tickets or that they got the car in front of me as we were relatively close and he was doing the same speed. It only flashed once so fingers crossed it just got the first of us to go under!

If this is now the norm, then it's not only incredibly underhand but also extremely dangerous.

Those variable speed signs are a joke. When no variable speed limit is stated, then the cameras are not in force. What annoys me is that these variable speed limits are part of a so called "MANAGED Motorway" If they are managing it, why the hell do they put a speed restriction on when there is clearly no need to? I've seen this many times on a weekend for example, free flowing motorway with not many vehicles on at all and they have a 60 mph restriction lit up. Why? Has the guy who is supposed to be managing it gone for an early tea? If we can get prosecuted for breaking the speed limit, then the operator/ managing company should also be prosecuted for failing to do their job they are being paid to do and not cause unecessary delays.
Rant over.
