Checked the oil level and the oil comes up to the second hole on the dipstick, the car is parked on a slight left to right slope.
Looks like I have enough oil but I'm not sure of the exact level, any thoughts?
Also any ideas where I can buy Royal Purple oil in the s.e. London n. Kent area.

Did think of that but wouldn't I have to wait for some amount of time for the oil to run down into the sump?

Tesco Express, Park up, grab a Costa, enjoy, drink then check level when finished. Should be ok to check then.

Happy days. thumbup

Always check mine on level ground, best to check first thing in the morning i would say.

Yes, if it is warm, then 10 minutes should be enough.

It's really not worth guessing, if where you are isn't flat.

If there's oil on the stick (after wiping and re-inserting) you aren't going to do any damage

Do you know there's RP in the sump already? If so and you are stuck you can get MFish to ship you some

There are different grades of RP out there - do you know what grade you have in the sump now?

Monkfish did the last service so I'm certain it's got r.p. in the engine, probably 10-30 but I'll check, going to get some as well.
The dipstick has got three holes in it and the oil comes just past the second hole up, where I park my car the oil will level will fall away from the dipstick so it is probably showing a lower level than what is actually in the sump. I'm not sure if overfilling would cause a problem.I'll be going round a petrol garage later as they have probably got the flatest bit of land near me to check it.
There is supposedley a stockist in Wilmington but can't contact them.

From what you say you have nothing to worry about

Not sure about the VXR8, but these V8's generally hold plenty of oil (12 pints plus I think), if there's oil half way up the stick you are fine for now

Unless you have a large leak or are leaving clouds of oil smoke behind your car, you will be OK for a few weeks I expect, while you get the correct oil to top up

Definitely don't over fill it. Do you have the handbook with the car, that will guide you as to the correct oil level

No oil leaks and no obvious clouds of smoke.

I could be wrong but i think it says in the manual that you should measure the oil level just after switching off the engine to get the correct oil level on the dipstick
