I drove down a bus/taxi only lane in Hemel
Discussion
I was staying at the Premier Inn next to the magic roundabout in Hemel Riverside a couple of weeks back for work. I’d had a long drive through lots of accidents and roadwork’s and got to Hemel late on. I could see the hotel but as its part of a shopping complex, I couldn’t see an obvious place to park. (I later found out you have to use the shopping complex multi-story car park and get your ticket stamped at reception.) Anyway, I digress…
So whilst driving around looking to park up, I accidentally drove down a street which was road marked (after I turned down it) for busses and taxis only. A genuine mistake on my behalf and I didn’t see any signs other than the road markings which was too late.
Anyway, I was using a pool car from work. Do you think my HR department will be getting a letter from the authorities with a sheepish photo of me, demanding fine payment or do you think I’ll be OK?

Yes, there are cameras and yes, you are likely to be fined. I wanted to contest it when I received my ticket due to a lack of signage. I would never have entered the road if I'd have known. As the lease company paid straight away, I wasn't allowed to contest.
Thanks for the heads up. I'm exactly the same, I wasn't trying to gain any advantage (it was late, the shops were shut and traffic wasn't busy). It was a genuine mistake. Looks like a possible fine for my company which will be taken from my salary :-(Gassing Station | Speed, Plod & the Law | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
