I once drank so much that I got alcohol poisoning at university. This does not make me a hero, it makes ill. But, If I was to drink even a fraction of what Depardieu claims is his daily intake I would be dead.

Depardieu said:
I can’t drink like a normal person. I can absorb 12, 13, 14 bottles per day.
'In the morning, it starts at home with champagne or red wine before 10am, then again champagne.'
'Then food, accompanied by two bottles of wine.
'In the afternoon, champagne, beer and more pastis at around 5pm, to finish off the bottle.
'Later on, vodka and/or whisky. But I’m never totally drunk, just a little p*****d.
'All you need is a 10-minute nap and voila, a slurp of rose wine and I feel as fresh as a daisy.
'Anyway, I’m not going to die. Not now. I still have energy.'

Gerard Depardieu?

He seems to think he's special, that he can absorb more than normal people, when in fact he's just an alcoholic with failing health who'll more than likely be dead by the end of the decade.

12 bottles a day plus spirits? Christ me and the wife wouldn't get through that in a month! It would be a task to do the shopping 100 bottles a week?

I met him when he was involved with Begles Bordeaux, lovely chap but was redder than a Rioja due to what he'd consumed before the match had even started rofl

I don't see how being perpetually half-cut is a characteristic, sounds more like a mental illness.

Is he claiming he does that when he's on a bender? Or he's doing that on a regular basis? If the latter, I think he's talking absolute st.

12, 13, 14 bottles of what? Wine, champagne, vodka, beer?

I refuse to believe that someone could drink 12 bottles of any of the first three in one day. That's obscene!

Given that the last thing I saw him in was in 1990 I can quite believe that younger members on here may not have heard of him.

Just reading that makes me feel ill. Yuck.

I cannot see how anyone could consume so much rich food / liquid in one day.
