Snetterton this evening someone left a 5 litre fuel can in their boot and went out on track... the result was quite a large fire right in front of me and one slightly toasted mr2! Poor guy, looked nice before!

I would like to add, while it was silly having it in there, it wasn't full and wasn't the cause of the fire. The fire was fuel related from the engine area. Was unable to open the boot to see further as it was all melted. The said fuel can was removed and wasn't even heat damaged that alone split/melted.

Hopefully the car isn't a write off, we are going to try rebuild it and hopefully he can have it running again.

Was you in the blue 197 tonight?

Seen someone go out on track with a full 5 litre can of oil in the boot. At least his boot floor is rustproofed now.

Yeah, i drove past the inferno in my MR2....was a sad sight, even if having a can in car was silly (i wouldnt even have one in rear boot on road, it gets too hot, is electronics in there, and drain hole onto backbox) but did see fire was from engine bay
