F430 Spider; not the lowest, but it will scrape on speed bumps if I'm not careful.

Can I board the ferry tomorrow or should I save myself the embarassament of trying? I seem to remember there's quite a dip before the ramp up to the ferry.

Thanks.

Wow what a coincidence, I live in Sandbanks and I am getting a F430 Spider next week, I have been thinking about this very issue as when I get it I would love to go and enjoy the roads on the other side, some great drives and views.

I have to say I'm pretty sceptical it will be able to get on as it's a steep ramp. Though the ferry is quite wide so if it's not too busy you could try going on at an angle across the lanes to make it a bit smoother.

Just take it slow and have a spotter and see if it works I guess, let us know how you get on though as I would like to do it!

My mate used to work on the ferry and he used to see all sorts on there. Given the exclusivity of the area, I'd imagine if there had been issues in the past they would've been sorted.

Longer term there are always the Hill Engineering skid plates to go under your car's nose

I saw a 360 on there last week. The Ferry guys got him to come on at an angle with no issues I could see.

Few years ago I went on there with a 430 and got on and off fine with no scrapes

I've done it many times with both 997.1GT3RS and Stradale which are both much lower than F430.

Go in sideways and no trouble at all. Right lane always exits first wink

Thanks all - no problem on or off. A minor scrape on the way out so I shall get some of those skid plates fitted ASAP.

That's good to hear, I will take mine over next week then!

Good pic too, really nice colour combo on your F430.

I decided to skip that option in my XKR ! At low tide the drop going into East Cowes is big and lots of little hatchbacks grounded out. Probably fine at high tide but the round trip by road is not that bad.

I decided not to risk it with my Elise, and found the route around to be most agreeable.

I see it would have gone on easily though, but the back roads around Purbeck were lovely in the sunshine.

Dunno if it's just the photo, but the red in the interior really *pops* against the bodwork.

Awesome!

yes i was going to say beware of the tide level as that catches people out - i had a near miss on one of the scottish isle ferries last year with the tides causing the ramps to be too steep

Bloody good point. We crossed again today, twice, in blissful ignorance!

Great roads. I always do the whole loop if driving something interesting, and often even if not smile

Thank you. It's Rosso leather as opposed to the darker Bordeaux. It really works with the Silverstone exterior.
