I have noticed that, the past couple of times I have been out for a really good drive in the Tam, the arse and diffuser seems to be peppered with what looks like tiny black spots.

Is this from the pops and bangs from the exhaust? I seem to recall my first Tam having this, but it was a much darker colour...

Are they not just tar spots? Should come right off with a clay bar or chemicals. I do this a couple times a year... just a bit of elbow grease smile

I don't think so - they come off very easily with a simple wipe, and tar spots aren't so easy to remove, which is why I'm thinking it's coming from the exhaust..

I get the same - since switching to R1R's I get a bit of scrubbing from the tyres during enthusiastic driving on bumpy roads.

My 'black spot' problem started at the same time as that so I assumed that the two were related!

Could be engine out of tune slightly? Have someone rev it whilst you look at the exhaust and see if one side thows out smoke/bits. That's what I was advised with my new car.

May have a point there - it's been like ever since Dom refurbed my throttle bodies and gave the engine a bit of a tune..

The side of my mrs car gets the same thing, usually after I have revved mine up on the drive. Probably the condensation formed in the exhaust initially being blown out when you give it beans
