Hi All, Just have a question on claims if anyone can help.

I have a car policy with 8 years protected NCD.

The mrs (also named on the policy) was involved in an accident in Jan 2014. Liability is being disputed between the two parties and my insurance company have put forward a 50/50 (despite our claims that it is the other sides fault).

At present my car has not been repaired but the other party have placed a claim for £550 (assuming these are repairs on their vehicle).

I have repair estimates ranging from £1050-£1900 for my car and a £445 excess.

The question is how much of a difference to my future policies will it make if I get the car repaired? It's still driveable and I can live with it, but on the other hand, as there will be an amount paid out regardless should I just get it fixed?

Lastly, should I wait to hear what the apportionment of blame is before acting?

Any advice is much appreciated.

You will keep your 8 yrs bonus but may incur a loading for having had a fault claim. How much depends on your insurer.

The amount you claim or whether the claim is deemed to be 90% your fault of 10% your fault will have little effect. It's either settled 100% in you favour or it's not, that's all that matters.
