Hello, the MOT is due on my 2005 Vantage in the next few months. It will require two rear dampers, Aston want £750ish plus VAT for reach rear assembly. Are there any after market ones available which will be cheaper than going to the dealership? The quote for labour was £185 which seems reasonable.

Any assistance is much appreciated.

Bilstein will service/rebuild shocks.
I've just had the rears replaced under warranty and was thinking about getting the fronts rebuilt, just in case.

I've emailed the contact addy I have.
The service centre will rebuild Caterham dampers, I have asked if they can/will do AM ones too.

I've emailed Bilsteins UK service centre and asked about costs, etc.

David Masters is the Workshop Manager and told me the following:

Basic overhaul charge is £80 plus vat per damper.
This includes new seals, bearing, fresh oil and re-gas. But will exclude any main components, so any additional parts will be charged on top. We will advise of this if necessary before going ahead to confirm you agree if any additional costs apply.

To replace the DU bushes in the strut in costs £16.35 for parts + Labour. Usually £35.00 in total inc parts.

Current lead time is 5 working days, although this varies depending on work load.

This is the address to send your Bilstein dampers to:

ThyssenKrupp Bilstein GmbH
7 Vitruvius Way | Meridian Business Park | Leicestershire | LE19 1WA | England
Phone:+44 (0) 116 2819015 | Fax:+44 (0) 116 2899021 |

I believe there is a Bilstein service centre in Broughton Astley, 5 miles north of Lutterworth.

Just to come back to this, one of my rear shocks weeps a little oil still, its not really got any worse in three years, and i cant detect any issue with handling or performance, but should really get it replaced or refurbed i guess.

Has anyone used this rebuild service?

I used them to build my DB9 Bilstein coil-overs from scratch with no problems. They are extremely knowledgeable and have everything there to remanufacture the dampers as well as modifying damper rates through valving to suit you.
Only downside is timing because mine took a good few weeks as they were heavily involved with race cars at the beginning of the season.

2005 cars didn't run bilstiens, so not sure if they service the older dynamic ones?
