Hi there
Just bought a 2005 Audi A4 cabriolet, radio worked fine when i picked it up - tuned up and remembered FM stations, played CD from changer (3 different ones), volume went up loud ok, head unit remembered my settings changes eg bass adjustments etc.

Since then ive deleted previous user data and selected the option to restore defaults (seemed the good thing to do at the time) . Ive also turned it off (manually, pressing in the volume switch till screen went black)

Now the stereo doesnt find any radio stations in FM mode, CD changer is not recognised (greyed out), no traffic reports are available, but the satnav appears to still work ok.

There is an ancient phone connector in the arm rest, (looks old nokia!) and when pressing the TEL button stereo states phone not present or attached correctly. Didnt think this was an issue as i dont want the phone connectivity.

Worst of all, the volume is fixed at a low level, does not alter with volume knob on head unit or on steering wheel.

What did i do??? Or is this a known fault and are there resolutions?
Thanks.

Dr G

Thanks for this.
Been trying it a few times lately, and seems sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt fix the problem.
Any ideas anyone???

When in its faulty mode, the system says it cant see the CD changer, but press the CD button (which then says nav CD) it will play the CD that's loaded in the recently used slot in the changer anyway... uuh??? - i cant select the CD, or any tracks, but it automatically plays after about 10 to 20 seconds pause. (press radio button and it does the same with the radio station last selected when working fully)

If its just a faulty head unit, i'd buy & install another one (which doesnt look all that easy) but I dont want to spend the money on a head unit to find its a fault in some other part. Its driving me nuts.
