I don't think so Lotus have had delusional management for the last 10 or so years. Dreams of mixing it with Ferrari and Lamborghini when they were just a bigger TVR. I mean what sane car company announces 5 new cars to be built in the future at one time? http://www.thelotusforums.com/latest-news/lotus-ca...

They couldn't have destroyed the market for their own cars more effectively if all Elises on the road all spontaneously self combusted at the same time.
My guess would be that the only thing that's kept them going has been the consultancy work with massive over bloat and over capacity for outdated cars that haven't had proper focus because of the misguided ambition (arrogance)
I'm surprised it's taken so long frankly.
That Are just refocusing there efforts. I would imagine that the Paris motor show is extremely costly, and maybe it doesn't return a huge amount. Who knows? Not us that's for sure so stop scaremongering and get on with it. The only people that know are the few a Lotus that know. We will in time find out I'm sure
As for TVR, our cars are far superior so no need to worry boys.. Any update on that front?

At last someone who makes sense They couldn't have destroyed the market for their own cars more effectively if all Elises on the road all spontaneously self combusted at the same time.

Looking back now the appointment of Dany Bahar does look a bit silly. He's a brand and marketing guy, and by all accounts a very good one. His time at Ferrari was very successful and he did a great job there. Problem is Ferrari is a built on a brand not the engineering. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with their engineering but your average Ferrari buyer really doesn't case about the engineering, he/she is buying into the 'brand' and the halo that goes with it. Lotus is completely the opposite, its an engineering company, and its average customers do care about the engineering (or perceived quality of it) Bahar tried the same trick he tried at Ferrari and unsurprisingly it was no where near as successful.

Am I the only one to notice that the clip was written July 2012. So just a bit out of date!
And as said before how does it relate to TVR? Or am I missing something?
Whoever linked to that in the Lotus Forum hasn't noticed it's old news. And as said before how does it relate to TVR? Or am I missing something?
This however is the recent news that I assume they meant to link to:
http://www.pistonheads.com/lotus/default.asp?story...
The connection that I assumed TOV!E was trying to make was that it might be a reflection of the current state of low volume specialist car market.
I suggest not as I stated above. TVR will be far more boutique, niche and low volume with non of the bloat, huge debt and overhead that Lotus is currently suffering from.
