This week I have bought a brand new PS3 and a brand new copy of GT6.
Put the disc into the PS3, it downloaded the latest update, but when it gets about a third of the way through intallation, it just comes up with an error message saying 'error occured during installation'
Must have tried about 20 times and it still keeps doing the same thing.
Tried putting GT5 in first and let it do the relevant updates for this and it worked fine. Now put GT6 back in and its doing the same thing.. Doing my head it now!
It must be a big update as it says it will take approximately 300 minutes!

Thanks for the link. Have had a read, but what they are suggesting doesn't work as
1. It doesn't give me an option to press 'ok' so pressing it within 2 seconds isn't an option
2. As I haven't even got as far as installing the game for the first time, there is no saved game data to delete.
Really peeing me off now...

I've been having similar issues. I'll give the "power cycling a few times" thing a go.
Regarding the "safety message" ignore it, it's just because it's been powered down suddenly. Unless there was a disk write operation ( like a download or game save) thing it's unlikely to corrupt any data on the disk.
