This week I have bought a brand new PS3 and a brand new copy of GT6.

Put the disc into the PS3, it downloaded the latest update, but when it gets about a third of the way through intallation, it just comes up with an error message saying 'error occured during installation'

Must have tried about 20 times and it still keeps doing the same thing.

Tried putting GT5 in first and let it do the relevant updates for this and it worked fine. Now put GT6 back in and its doing the same thing.. Doing my head it now!

It must be a big update as it says it will take approximately 300 minutes!

There'll be quite a lot to download ! What DL speed do you have ? Can you go to work or a friends and get a faster DL speed ?

No idea what speed, not really much chance of taking it somewhere else either.

Suppose I could try a wired connection, but seeing as it has downloaded and the error is during installation, i didn't think that this would be an issue.

Thanks for the link. Have had a read, but what they are suggesting doesn't work as

1. It doesn't give me an option to press 'ok' so pressing it within 2 seconds isn't an option
2. As I haven't even got as far as installing the game for the first time, there is no saved game data to delete.

Really peeing me off now...

Well, I've tried absolutely everything and nothing works!

Even tried taking it back to the shop (including console), but it still isn't working.

Looks like no gt6 for me. Gutted...

you can cancel the update at the start and still play the game.

As soon as I cancel the updates it restarts the game and tries to download the updates again.

Stupid question time. Did you buy the one with plenty of hard drive space, or did you get the cheaper 12GB one? If the latter, it's probably running out of disk space.

Thanks for that.

Don't suppose you know when you are supposed to restart it tho?

Are you meant to let it run until the 'error' each time, as this usually takes at least 15-20 mins..

I've been having similar issues. I'll give the "power cycling a few times" thing a go.

Regarding the "safety message" ignore it, it's just because it's been powered down suddenly. Unless there was a disk write operation ( like a download or game save) thing it's unlikely to corrupt any data on the disk.

I wasn't sure if you were referring to the "The system was not shut down properly last time" or the "installation failed" message.
If it's the former, circle to skip. If it's the latter, then power cycle.
