Hi everyone.

My CEO was visiting from Denmark and asked for a ride in my 2007MY Vantage earlier. He said "I like the interior" and I said "look it also has sat nav" and pressed the back button to open it. However, I did one of those double presses like some of you will recall doing on the TV sets of old. Regretfully, rather than just causing mild frustration at oneself and delaying the arrival of the green goddess or Selina Scott, which a tv double press caused, my double press led to the mechanism trying to open then try close halfway through opening. Then there was much clicking, grinding and crunching, with my satnav screen on, but stuck half way. Button presses do not move the mechanism but do turn the screen on/off. I can manually raise or lower the screen but the motor does not seem to engage.

My question is - has this ever happened to anyone else? Is it likely that something has just popped out of a cog or doohickey and just needs a well informed jostle back into position, or is it likely I'm looking at an eye watering bill to repair something I never use anyway?!

Any experiences and suggestions greatly appreciated. I am in Weybridge, so if anyone had magic hands and is willing to have a look there is a cup of the and a fine Tunnocks caramel wafer in it for you!

Thanks,

Mark

Ps sorry for any typos - I'm on my iphone trembling a bit...

Thanks Tony, but that proved unsuccessful when I tried earlier. I shall look again in the morning as it's dark and Mrs Mac is angry at me for being back late and I daren't risk sitting in the car and fiddling with it.

Really Neil,it's just not on,very poor taste.
Poor man fecked his sat nav and all you can do is allude to him having a Tommy.
You don't get this nonsense on the AMOC forum.
What with you AND Tosser Tony this forum is rapidly going downhill.
Sorry Mark I can't help with your sat nav problem but as for the wife a gentle slap should sort her out.

I had those symptoms in mine; I am not sure what caused them. It turned out to be a broken gear mechanism (actually broken by a previous owner and glued, which re-broke), and for some reason (according to three sources) meant that I had to change all that part of the ski slope, so a few hundred quid plus labour.

There is a sat nav gear kit on astonmartinbits for £14, and some other sat nav replacement parts for a few hundred pounds, so I guess you can't tell whether it's a cheap or an expensive fix until you take it to the garage.

Brilliant! You all know me too well, but on this occasion I wasn't planning to "relax in a gentlemanly way" with an "art periodical".

I was just talking about the sticking flap.

I thank you.
