Sorry dull thread alert but I got my renewal through from DL for a whopping £750.
Did a new quote online and it came out at a more realistic £288, with £45 cashback from Quidco making total £243!!!
That seems very cheap, seem to remember it was £1400 3 years ago! I will be 35 when it kicks in. 9 years no claims, no points, live in nice quiet area with own driveway, 6000 miles annual but it still seems v cheap to be honest, considering the cost of any repair they must be pretty confident that I'm not going to have a prang! finger crossed!

Funny how it works. I change my golf R32 for a 996 turbo and the insurance is £10 a year cheaper!

997 Turbo, 3 points, 10+ years NCB, garaged at a good postcode. My renewal came in a few months ago at something around £700.

I did some research, got it for £169. Yes you read that right. nuts

Looking to insure a new M3 through my usual broker - £1200 plus a tracker needed.
On line comparison website - cheapest £390, most expensive £900.

Do be careful on the price comparison sites, I remember a very cheap quote from Elephant so I looked into it and you have to take your car to their approved repairer. Fine for a 9 year old Volvo, not so good for a treasured 911

Check that with Elephant. I used to insure with them. I queried it at the time as I had a GT3 with them. The explanation I got was that I was free to use any repair company, however I would have to get 3 quotes (all 3 could be Porsched approved) & they would not give me a courtesey car, if I was deemed at fault. If I used their approved repairer it would be a no questions asked courtesey car & no hassle for me to get quotes.

Renewed my 996 policy a couple of months ago with Marsh (Porsche Insurance) for £330, cheapest quote was £245 but Marsh policy was better so stuck with them again.

My 172 Cup costs me £300!

Very tricky to compare like with like as service and attitudes matter as much as premium. I am with NFU - pricey but unbelievable service and hassle free claims. I am happy to pay extra for that.

I agree. Premium is only one part of the equation. My previous experience of Churchill/Direct Line is not good when it comes to claims. I now choose to pay a higher premium to insure with a company I believe will actually pay out in the event of a claim.

Its all a calculated risk isn't it?

I dont go with the cheapest, usually because I haven't heard of the company!

I usually go for the lowest 'known' company but I always use a £500 excess to keep the premium down as I figure that I wouldnt claim something under that value anyway!

Same here - maximum excess and cheapest well known firm. I'd really only want to claim as a matter of last resort

Remarkable that people are in a position to buy/own a Porsche then scrimp on the insurance.

Cheap insurance is usually cheap for a reason. In the event of a claim expect to have to deal with a Timbuktu based call centre and don't expect your pride and joy to be going to a garage of your choice - it'll be the nearest local chop shop who specialise in cut and shuts.
