So, there's this spiders web in my front garden, it's attached to the manicured privet hedge that separates my front garden and the path (like a lot of semis). The web is about a foot above the hedge but it is secured at the top to two BT lines above it that are not only 15 feet above it but 10 feet apart. How the hell does it do this or does it have some sort of help from it's mates!

I believe they release a string of web on the wind and when it hooks on to something they make it good.

Give that man a prize!

They will release their silk into the wind and as the song goes, wherever it lays its hat, thats its home.

After creating the initial anchor, they will then secure that to where they are stood and will then strengthen that line. There are some amazing vids on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBkhQOYArxg

Spiders' webs are just amazing. Dawkins isn't lying when he describes evolution as The Greatest Show On Earth.
