Haha message title should read'santa Monica hotel'. Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in or around Santa monica pier. Looking to stay for just the one night as a family of 4. Thanks

W Hotel, Westwood - not on the beach, but super nice suite hotel, so good for family. I stay there whenever I'm working in LA and recommend it without hesitation.

Lowes - Brilliant location, easy stroll to beach, pier, shopping, restaurant and bars. hotel good but not outstanding, bar expensive.

Great Chinese in the shopping mall on the roof, great duck!

We stayed at the Holiday Inn (might have been an Express?) right next to the pier. Literally 30 seconds walk. Was fine - clean, easy to find, plenty of parking. Kind of a west coast motel/hotel feeling. Ice machines every 30 feet sort of place.
Close enough to the beach that we just went down in our swimmers, didn't have to worry about leaving towels/bags on the beach.

Had my first swim in the Pacific there. Pretty great.

Hotel Shangri-La is nice, we stayed there for 3 nights back in 2012, it is just across from the beach and a 5 min stroll to the pier.

Fairmont Miramar is another good one - stayed there a few years ago.
