Hello,

Our usual Snowdonia cottage has unfortunately been booked, we usually stay here:

http://www.northwales-cottages.co.uk/millhouse.htm...

I'm looking for something similar for two weeks over the same period. We like privacy, peace and quiet, no mobile phone signal, and chucking loads of coal into the burner. There's just the two of us but space is always nice.

Any recommendations? It doesn't necessarily have to be Wales, anything that fits the above criteria would be fine. It should be a max 5-6 hours drive from Hertfordshire.

Thanks!

try one in Pembrokeshire. We've been going for a few years now in October half term, and what is not to like?

Here's one website we've used but there are plenty more.

Shute cottage is 200 yards from a beach on the same elevation, next to a majestic castle.....but sadly lacks a wood burner. We're going somewhere cheaper with a woodburner next month.

Thanks, that looks quite nice. I can probably get by without a wood burner, but there's something about one that makes the long winter evenings better smile Proximity to the sea makes up for that though I think. I don't mind admitting I'm a radio amateur, and being near the sea is a good thing!

I'll add that to the short list. Any more for any more?

Speaking of Pembrokeshire we stayed here for our honeymoon http://tenbyandsummerhillcottages.co.uk/ in Summerhill Cottage.

Very cosy and the hot tub was an added bonus smile

Shameless plug for my place in Onich near Glencoe in Scotland if you would consider something outside Wales.

Ideal location as most places are less than an hour away like Oban, Fort William, Mallaig, Aviemore, Inverness ete or just slump in a chair.

No wood burner as I can't get insurance to let it self catering with an open or wood burning fire. Sorry. Free WiFi for PH surfing.

Just look at the reviews as they don't lie. Most of our guests are returning which is nice.
