When I'm watching youtube on iPad either via the app or in safari or chrome loads of videos won't play because "the content owner hasn't made this available on mobile"

What on earth is the point of that? I though perhaps advert related but I still get ads at the start of other videos.

Any plans for this to change or any workaround? iPad is redundant at the moment, I'm back to using my PC.

YouTube seems to have gotten progressively worse with time. It's a slow, bug filled piece of ste on nearly all of my devices. How can a site with basically unlimited money behind it be so badly optimised?!

Still makes no sense to me, my ipad is wifi only so it's the same as using my Laptop in my eyes. I still get plenty of ads which I tolerate but it's such a shame that a site, as you say with almost unlimited funds can't get stuff right.

If they won't make certain videos available then they could at least remove ones that won't play from the search results!

The OP never talks about bugs, nor have I heard what you are saying before. I use Youtube daily on a number of devices and I have to say to me it's an example on how to make a great app that runs great on even the lowest of hardware.
It's also one of the only apps that still runs smooth on my 4S.

Agreed on the search results!

yes
Problem is that people use their smartphone/tablet as a media player, with a playlist in youtube.
Not that I'm defending it, but if it means they can prevent having the videos removed altogether, I think it's a fair compromise.
