Hello just purchased a new BMW 3 SERIES (F30 Sport) and just a tad confused about the climate control. I have the dual control climate control with the AUTO function and an AC button at the end.

I do keep the Auto button on all the time and as a result the AC button also lights up.

However, is my understanding correct in that the AC button should light on and off once the correct temperature has been achieved or does the AC button stay lit all of the time ?. I hope I have explained this properly.

The second issue I have is that can you fast forward/rewind a CD using controls on the steering wheel or is this only done by the buttons near to the CD player ?.

Thanks in advance.

The AC light will stay permanently on, the clutch on the compressor will control whether it is cooling or not.

As for FF/RW on the CD etc, just press and hold the track advance/back buttons and it will start to move through the track until you release.

Many thanks for the quick reply much appreciated.

In respect of the fast forward /rewind I was just wondering if what you have described is something you can do from the steering wheel too, as I can't seem to find it on there. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks

You can jump forward or back to the next/last track using the right thumbwheel on the steering wheel. You can't move by partial tracks in this way though.

Sorry but just another query as to what the purpose of the knurled wheel is. Surely this defeats the object of adjusting the temperature knobs?.

Bit confused by what this wheel is meant to do.

Thanks all.

That there is your stratification control.

BMW are the only car manufacturer where you actually need to rtfm to figure out what the chuff it's for.

I thinks it's there to allow you to independently control the top air vents. Leave it centred and it's the same as the other vents. Turn it to blue/red and you get cold/hot.

Means you can have toasty feet but cold air in your face.

Many thanks. It does seem a bit odd. I think I will give your suggestion a try tomorrow morning as I am sure you are correct in terms of the centre vents.

The thing is I have actually gone through the manual but even that is quite ambiguous in terms of its purpose!!!!.

Correct. It adds cooler or warmer air to the current temp you set to allow a warm or cool you with warmer or cooler hands and face. I like it.

Is there any way to sync the climate control settings for the passenger and driver?
