Hi All,

I have word that my Gaz Gold Pros should finally arrive this week, i think thats seven weeks rather than the three quoted...

Anyway, with my 'whilst it's off replace it' ethic I'm just doing some shopping on http://www.namrick.co.uk for the replacement nuts, bolts and washers.

I've checked the wiki but it just states plain washers for front suspension, but there are different choices for outside diameter and a choice of light or heavy? http://www.namrick.co.uk/acatalog/Imperial_Plain_W...

Also, I can't seem to find the low profile nyloc nuts for the top of the rear shocks.

Is there a better place to get them from?

I tried to look at the kit from shengltd.com but the website's not working.

Thanks in advance.

I use margnor for fasteners who have always given me good service. You can order any quantity rather than having to buy a pack. Wrights automotive fasteners in Coventry are also good. Changed all the damper bolts on mine except the rear tops as they are a funny length. Standard flat washers for dampers. I have used standard Nylocs for top rear damper bolts on my S3 without any problems - but all the cars are different!

Steve Heath isn't doing the nut & bolt kits any more but 1/2 UNF nylocks are what you need. My upper nuts need to be low profile as well so I'll be getting a couple of standard ones turned down to suit.

Hi,
Does anyone have any experience using metric washers ?
Not the nuts and bolts, just the metric washers, with the original imperial bolts.
For example : instead of the Ø(1 1/8" - 1/2") washers for the wishbones, a simple M12 Ø(28-13)mm washer could be used.
Is it worth writing the washer sizes in the wiki, instead of just "plain washers" ? Or is this not so important ?

If you're buying 1/2" nuts 'n bolts why not buy 1/2" washers to suit?

That's a good point and maybe that's the simplest answer - I'll buy some nice new washers on the internet.
The only reason I asked, is because I can't get the imperial locally, but I can buy the metric sizes.

Flat washers are not usually the most precision of items, if a 12mm washer will fit a 1/2" bolt I don't see a problem (13mm is not a common size).

There are a couple of local suppliers I use, both still keep good stocks of imperial fasteners (BZP and stainless) smile

Are you fitting new nuts 'n bolts? While bolts are quite re-useable the "Nylok" nuts should be replaced.

ETA just seen you're in Hungary, guess Imperial stuff may not be so common over there, have you "always" been metric? scratchchin

Hi Mike, thanks for the info./links. I will buy some imperial washers online and get them sent to me - postage to Hungary is only a little more expensive than to a UK address.
I've not always been metric, origianlly from the Welsh valleys, I was 8 when Decimal Day came around and my Dad (a retired Rover toolmaker) still rants on about "thous" and all that stuff !
