Discussion
I believe this was officially released yesterday.
Has anyone ordered one, seen one or does anyone plan to get one? I am hoping to get one once the price settles (and somewhere like Hdew, DR or Panamoz get them nearer to £1k). I was going to get the D610 but am holding out due to the better AF.
Headline specs:
Resolution: 24MP (new sensor apparently)
Dual SD card slots
Shutter Speed: 1/4000 – 30 s + bulb etc.
Flash sync: 1/200s
Frame Advance: 6.5FPS
Autofocus: Nikon Advanced Multi-CAM 3500 II - 51 AF Points (15 cross type, 11 of them focus to F8). Same as D4s and D810 except it focusses in even lower light (–3 – +19 EV)
WIFI: Yes, built in
Video: Yes, lots

Seems to be treading all over the 810's toes doesn't it?
It does. Resolution and the 'pro' control layout seems to be the main differentiater now. It also makes the D610 look pretty bad value, or at least it will once the price settles. I expect the D610 will have to come down quite a bit further.ManFromDelmonte said:

My guess would be that the D610 will gracefully disappear all together. The D750 appears to occupy the same slot in the market and offers a few more niceties. It looks to all intents and purposes like a D600/610 replacement. I'm a happy D600 owner but if I were buying now, there is no way I could ignore the D750. Shutter Speed: 1/4000 – 30 s + bulb etc.

Is it just me that find these stats in particular very disappointing ?
Nikon D700 = 8fps ( with grip ) 1/8000 shutter, 1/250 flash sync.
Nikon D300 = 5fps 1/8000 shutter, 1/250 flash sync.
And compared to the other, cheaper, DX cameras at photokina it is outpaced by even Samsungs new camera.
Canon 7dMk2 = 10fps, 1/8000 shutter speed, 1/250 flash sync.
Samsung NX1 = 15 fps, 1/8000 shutter, 1/250 flash
There were rumours of a D9300/D400 replacement for the DX market or a true D700 replacement.
Instead we got a D600 replacement with a de-rated shutter. Feels like an answer to a question no-one was asking.

The D300, D700 and 7Dmk2 are all Pro cameras though. The D750 is definitely a consumer/prosumer camera. The NX1 isn't an SLR so can't fairly be compared either.Flash sync: 1/200s

I agree that the D700 and D300 are yet to be replaced though. If I was a pro still shooting a D700, I am not sure what I would do.
I don't think the max of 1/4000s is such a big problem when you can drop to 50 ISO, the D700 only went down to 200 so you're actually a stop better off in the D750.
Flippy-out screen say's it all. Yuk.
I've never seen a camera that I'd want to swap my D700 for. Does everything I ask of it, time and time again.
My other body is a D7000, because I wanted the best consumer Nikon for occasionally shooting video. It's a fine piece of kit too, and I like the flexibility that having FX lenses to share between FX and DX bodies gives.
If my D700 got broken or stolen, the only thing I'd consider replacing it with would be another used one.

Quite. I thought that about the D800 too, although the D800E I might be tempted by - if it was actually a D4E and I could justify the expense. Who needs 36MP outside a studio? All that does is take up space, not many people print that big. Maybe some people need to massively crop. Still seems a huge waste.budfox said:

Same here.i have the privilege of owning D700/D3, a D3x and D800 and shoot fashion/glamour/portraits. Doing a whole shoot, circa 400 shots on the D800 is a PITA in post. Great files but it soaks up drive space, RAM, processor etc and I end up editing out the resolution. Secondly, the autofocus settings are a faff to change on the fly. The D700/D3 is fine, especially for action with its fast frame rate. Ive found that the D3x is a perfect compromise. Superb files with perfect resolution and quality. So, the D750 ought to interest me.

Thanks for the link. Excellent review of the Nikon D750 especially when compared to the Canon 5D3. Certainly looks like a stunning bit of kit.ian in lancs said:

Purely out of interest, why did you go for the 800? I would have thought someone in your position would have gone for a D4, but then you might actually need those resolutions looking at what you do.Took delivery of D750 yesterday though it's still in a box under my desk at work. I dropped my D7000 about a month ago so have used that as an "excuse" to upgrade! I've invested in the FX glass along the way so really can't wait to give it a go.
That review against the D3s is incredible.

That review of the D750 is certainly very interesting, and if I were buying new now I'd probably go for one. The author thinks that the new camera is the one that D700 owners have been waiting for, but I just don't agree. I have never wished that my D700 performed better. For the £1700 the D750 costs I'd still go for a used D700 and a grand's worth of prime glass all day long.
