Hello,

I have a jib for my DSLR as I do a lot of video work, the rig is quite light but with the counter waits it can get too much for the entry level plastic-y tripods that I have. I need something that can take the wait perhaps with a detachable head so I can mount it straight to the tripod frame or something. I'm looking for some suggestions on a good tripod to support a JIB please. I'm struggling to find something good.

Manfrotto 055 should keep you happy, plus head of your choice.

Do you know the approx weight of your camera with lens and how far offset from centre it will be? What fitting does the jib have? Is it a female thread or male thread? What sort of height would you need to work at?

There are countless options out there so worth narrowing it down a little.

Seeing as you already have the weight of a jib, I am going to make an assumption that you don't need to be doing any hiking with it. In that case, I would suggest a Manfrotto 075 ART tripod. Massive thing it is, about 3 kg and very sturdy and stable.

Best of all, such heavy tripods are out of fashion so you can get one on ebay for 60-100 pounds.

Hi and thanks to everyone for the replies. I bought the Manfrotto 055 and it's first class, perfect for my jib and for the slider I have as well, sturdy and weighty enough for all my kit, I'm in love with it thanks for the suggestions smile
