our recently acquired cats try to pounce on the rabbits. sadly for the rabit there is a patio window in the way. i swear the rabbits were laughing at them
Just remembered, our Pug, who died last year; many, many years ago ran at full pelt from the end of my dads garden, stright into the closed patio doors, the poor thing yelped so much and made the most awful noises, he must have hurt himself really badly, funny when you look back at it though.

Our cat does a mental full lap of the house after every sh!t, must be such a celebration to feel that bit lighter.
My lovely Mabel (RIP 20 July 2012) would do that. It was like she was warning me of the horrible smell that was about to invade the lounge.

You would hear the shuffling in the litter tray, then a howl, and then full bolt round the house.

She also had a pet stuffed hedgehog called Crispy Willem. She would sing to him from the top of the stairs, then walk halfway down and drop him so he would bounce to the bottom. At the bottom we then had to congratulate her on her cleverness and she would purr like crazy. This would then repeat with her stuffed mouse (Lieutenant Dan) and Paul the ball. It would happen every night then I would take them all back up again.

I miss my Mabel.

My sister's old dog was loveable, but a bit of a liability, she once joined me on the roof of my mother's house (I was replacing a couple of ridge tiles) unfortunately she could not climb down the ladder. I carried her down over my shoulder, which was fine until we got half-way down and she decided to jump, kicking me off the ladder as she went. She also jumped from the garden into the dining room through the window, it was closed at the time, no damage to her fortunately. She also had a thing about traffic cones and would bark madly at them when passing them in the car. She loved playing with the hose, but you had to stop her dragging it in the house.

Now you come to mention it:

Back in the mid-1990, when schools were not as paranoid about security fencing as they are now, I often used to take a short cut along our local secondary school's drive when taking the dogs out. One was the more adventurous of the two; the other tended to plod along at the rear of the party.

One night when passing the Admin block of the school (an old converted Regency house) I noticed that "plodder" was missing, and then I heard a dog whining from "on high." Further investigation revealed that she had chased a cat up the fire escape, jumped onto the roof after it, and now couldn't get back down again.

Luckily, this was also in the days before CCTV became widespread. I imagine I might have had a lot of explaining to do if seen carrying a plank up the fire escape of a school Admin block in order to assist in getting a dog off the roof...

Plodder (AKA Rosie - 1995 to 2009) is on the right. Her sister Ricky (1995-2010) is looking aloof on the left

various cats over the years:

parents cat when I was at school - worked out he was safe as houses sitting under a row of rose bushes when Alsatians were walking past - I swear I almost saw him stick his tongue out and laugh!

when a kitten a dear departed cat discovered Bailey's..... tipsy kitten is quite funny to watch, not least for the confused look on his face.

same cat was would wait for me to get home from work, as soon as the engine was off - on to the car, car roof, jump to my shoulder as soon as I was out of the car

his 'brother' (not actually brother, but we got them at the same time) - loved sitting in boxes, the box for the game Boggle was a perfect fit as a kitten - still tried to sit in it years later, spilled out over the sides but didn't care

stupid would be another cat that managed to jump/fall into a builders wheel barrow that was full of water/remains of concrete/mortar - had to shower her to clean her as she was semi-long-haired, did not enjoy it (either of us)

back to 'Bailey's cat' - Mrs was ironing a blouse, which meant she wasn't wearing one at time - made the jump to her shoulder! oooooowwwwwww was what I heard.

one of our current cats likes lying next to me in bed - at times even with his head on the pillow.

Our other current cat is mostly miss scaredy cat - but saw her in the garden watching a fox only 6 feet away from her without obvious concern!

Our bulldog has done more stupid things than I can remember, but a recent gem was indulging his habit of rolling about on his back on the lawn, rolling off the lawn into the slight trench round the edge of a flowerbed - and being rather old and fat - being then stuck there with all four legs sticking up vertically like a dead cow.

When one of mine was younger either the Mrs or one of the kids left some food on the work top in the kitchen one morning.

I came home from work at lunch time to take the dogs for a walk, All I can smell is Gas !!!!!!!! The little fecker must have jumped onto the kitchen top snaffled the food but must of stood on the cooker nob and turned one of the rings on in the process yikes

I rang the kids and Mrs to tell them not to go home. Her comment was just turn the extractor fan on FFS

Very very very lucky that it was in the morning and not the afternoon. If it had been the boiler would of fired up or the kids would have been home from school.

My cat can't work a cat flap. She just won't push her head through it, she has to hit the flap with one paw, so hard it bounces back at her, so she can quickly get a paw underneath it, and sort of lift it over her head. She then crawls through.

Obviously she rarely gets it to open wide enough to catch it first time, so there is about a minute of banging and clattering, until she finally appears in the kitchen.

Idiot.

Our cat Indiana Jones could work the old magnetic cat flap like a pro. There were times (usually when in trouble with my Mum) that she would be out of it so quickly she barely touched sides.

Her sister Pegerty never really "got it". She would sit there, crane her neck forward, hear the *click*, lean back (*clunk* locked) and then get terribly confused as to why she couldn't open the chuffing thing.

Religiously at 10pm (time we go up to bed) Madison will sit by the lounge door waiting to go up to bed! If we are late, even a few minutes, she starts talking and making daft noises! So up we go!
Once we are all settled in bed watching TV, Madison jumps out of bed, lies by the bedroom door starring at me waiting to come downstairs to let her out for a wee!

Link, our eldest cat likes to bring us prey so we can congratulate him. you hear him coming up the stairs announcing his victory with slightly muffles Bengal noises. Meowpth. He'll then come into the room and deposit the spoils at our feet and expect head-rubs in return for bringing us... and elastic band.

Pip, one of our other Bengals has his mad half-hour running full-pelt around the house, startling at anything and everything until he's exhausted.

Lily, Pip's sister, only ever sits on my knee while I'm on the loo. Usually arriving to bestow her favour on me just as I'm done. She's learned a new trick recently to get my attention to come and turn the bath-tap on... if her calls don't get me to come and attend her she'll push the en-suite door to and then hit it with her front paws to slam it shut. Scared the crap out of me the first time. She never does it when we're out.

Woke up this morning to find tango drapped over my stomach.

Front legs one side legs the other like a cat rug on me.

He was also limp and meant I couldnt move him easily. I had to lift him plus duvet in order to get out of bed.

None of our three can either. I eventually just removed the flap from it so there is just a gap. They manage that ok.

Our old dog would lay in the doorways (sadly being 10 stone she took up a lot of room), BUT just to make sure, when you stepped over her she would roll over so up went the legs into your legs as you try to get past. Nearly broke my neck a few times..
