Hello,
I'm possibly looking to buy a Brera Spider diesel. Does anyone know of a decent one for sale with moderate mileage [up to 60k] for around £9k? We've a 147 JTD Lusso on a 53 plate from new of which has been the best car we've ever had [sit on that Clarkson] and am looking to change. Will sell 147 privately, just looking for correct Brera, Anyone know of such a car?
cheers.

Surely putting a diesel engine in a Brera Spider is a crime against humanity? Did they really do that?

The diesel engine in the brera is a FivePotTurbo..... if that makes a difference to you. loads of info on these cars here:

Worth a thorough read of the buyers guide and what to look out for with the diesels...

Cheers and thanks, I have read some reports previously and it seems it would suit us perfectly at the moment with it being used as a daily driver by the other half. What other diesel looks so good?
So, any cars out there?

Don't expect diesel economy averaged around 30mpg with my Brera.

Fairly shifts with a remap though.

Does it sound like a tractor though? The last Alfa diesel I heard was a GT coupe, it was horrendous. I get the fact you want an economical, nice looking car, but with the roof down you're going to hear more of it.
I just find the whole idea terrible, as with TT TDI roadsters and 1 series diesel convertibles. It seems even worse with an Italian car.

The 5 pot Alfa 2.4 engine is one of the best sounding diesel engines out there. If your GT was a 1.9 i know what you mean but the 2.4 is totally different.

A few here Mac but only the bottom one is diesel:

Agree on the diesel consumption. Andrea gets about 35 out of a 2.0 159 Sportwagon and that includes a lot of motorway driving.

Looks to be rare so you may need to wait a while before finding ne with the right mileage, preferred colour combo and at the right price.

The 2.4 Turbo does not sound like a tractor, yes it is a diesel. But I think i sounds good.
Different kinds of sound from the engine.
The first one isn't muffled that much

I know a garage called Solo Italia in Oxfordshire were selling a 2.4 diseasel spider in grey sat on 19 inch wheels. It had been remapped to 250bhp. I dont know the mileage or if its been sold. It was about 2 months ago they had it so it may have gone now.

Remapped cars, if done proberly, are better than stock i allmost anyway. And a 250 hp map doesn't sound like pushing the engine.
And if it has an EGR delete, that will save you a lot of headache, since that is where the most errors on the 2.4 comes from.

How you getting on Mac. Assume they are few and far between and knowing you the search will be that much more difficult.

Not great mate. Went down to Hampshire today to look at one and apparently it was away at the paint shop banghead
May end up sticking with what we have at this rate, that's no great shame though I suppose as it's the best car we've ever had and will be sorry to let it go TBH.
