Just wondering if anyone had any ideas of where to park for the hydro. The cost of the parking isn't the issue to park at the Hydro, more the queues to get out after the event. Don't mind a 15-20 in walk.

Thanks

I was at the Hydro this evening (for the 1st time) to see Still Game.

The queue to get out the car park next door to the Hydro wasn't as bad as I expected, from the show finishing to getting on to the M8 probably took 25mins, but a fair amount of that was just getting out of the Hydro building.

Still Game, by the way, was absolutely superb - in case anyone is considering going to see it.

I noticed the queues didn't seem too bad. We parked just along from India Quay down one of the side streets, free after half six too. I was there for Still Game too. Absolutely brilliant. Probably the best show I have been to.

Id worry more about the cue to get in, we were in plenty of time to see Still Game on a Sunday evening, but after queuing for 25 minutes without moving to get into the car park and getting closer to the show kicking we off bailed and found a local sidestreet, was permit only but thankfully escaped a ticket.
Judging by the number of people coming in late to the show there were a lot like myself that underestimated how long it would take to get in and get a space.

Last time I went to the Hydro I parked about Argyle Street and walked over the overpass from the station. Lots of nice places to eat such as the crabshack, the Finneston, Lebowskis and Mother india.

Was as the Hydro for James Taylor last night. Parked across the Clyde beside the science centre. Good idea...until trying to get out. With only 3 ticket machines (2 in a kiosk and in the science centre foyer) it took 20 minutes to pay.

First time I'd been to the Hydro, and for a newly designed venue I was surprised the acoustics were quite to poor. I thought concerts at the SECC had rotten sound - this was worse with the echo from hell.

But nevertheless a fabulous concert - JT comes across as a great raconteur, self deprecating and humble. At the interval when the band left the stage he walked down to the front, sat on the edge and did autographs, hand-shakes, photos etc for the full interval. And the voice is still there, unlike many of the other 'older' acts who are sadly past it. Great guy. Great concert. Cr@p parking idea.
