The red Esprit is re advertised on Fleabay and I vaguely remember some information about its rebuild ETC. a while back. I think it was owned by someone on here. I have just sold my 3.9 TVR and am looking to buy something interesting. Can anyone give me any information on this car to jog my memory as I have always liked these cars and am seriously considering buying it. Many thanks in advance to any help provided.

HI, can only see two red S3's on ebay. Don't think that link on the forum is either of them as if you look at the link it has the Turbo spoiler and skirts fitted. The 1984 car at £5800 looks good. Its also listed on car and classics at about 8k. You can't go wrong at that price as they are on the up. Things to look out for.....Good history,Engine oil pressure, clean oil and coolant, overheating. The body should be free from cracks and star crazing but most importantly micro blisters. See if it sits well, all arch clearance for a guide to accident damage/straightness. Also check the exhaust manifold for cracks and leaks as this can be expensive£400 to £800. Check and smell for fuel around the tanks as this can also cost if they leak £400 per tank plus fitting. Hope this helps a little. It does look nice tempted myself!!!

Mmmmm. I think you are right. It's not the same one. The other had black bumpers and different colour wheels etc. The reason why I thought they were the same is because of the number of things it had done after standing for so long and that it's re advertised.

It is the red one at 5800.00 at the moment, that I'm interested in and it does look nice. Thanks for the info on what to look out for as I've never owned one before, but I have driven one belonging to a friend. 8k though seems a bit high but it does look a peach. I may go and take a look over the weekend. Thanks.

The car reached 7.2k on ebay last time i think? Go over with 7/7.5k cash should buy it. If its as good as it looks it will be worth it as not many about. It was not that long ago when they were 5k and now you need 7/10k. if they they follow the s2 prices it will be better than money in the bank. Check out sj sports cars they sell lots of spares, it will give you an idea of spares prices. By the way it seems that the car has the s/s exhaust manifold fitted they are the best, can be repaired if they crack and they cost I think about 800/1000 ££. ATB and good luck,
Mark.

There's a thread running on TLF about the eBay Esprits with some detailed insights on the cars' condition if you are interested.
